AC Problem

I purchased a used 2005 2955 last fall and just got the chance to try the AC last weekend. We were out several times last spring and did not need it. The compressor runs but the fan does not. The compressor will shut down after a minute or so. If you listen carefully, you can hear a click in the unit when trying to operate the fan but it won't run. I did purchase an extended warranty with the unit but if it were something simple that I could fix, all the better. The dealer is two hours away.

Also, any more news on the 2008 spring rally in Gettysburg, PA.

A 5th wheel in our campground had the same problem. Was told to go up on the roof and turn fan by hand. It worked and has been running for two years. Dan

May be a dirt dobber nest in there blocking fan. Doesn't sound to serious.

John, with the a/c breaker "OFF" try turning the fan to see if it is stuck. My bedroom a/c did the same thing and the fan motor was bad. If the fan can be turned by hand then the motor is likely bad.The clicking you hear is the a/c's fan relay closing trying to start the fan.

Thanks Dan, Darrell, and Garin1. I turned it a few times and tried it and it works.

Have to bill friends. Our enemies wouldn't contact us. I was told this by sales people when I was working.

Brings up a question. Are the fan bearings sealed, or do they have a place where they can be oiled? Anyone know? I would like to know, but not bad enough to crawl up there and take the shroud off in this summer heat.

Send a message via AIM to noneck
I believe they are sealed bearing... Had they been the issue it would act up again right away...and you could feel them grinding when spinning the fan. Do not try to spray any WD40 like lubricant into them...this action tends to "wash" the grease out and will cause future early failure.
Will apply payment to all on this forum on Sunday...extra prayer for all who give w/o concern for monetary compensation!
