oil temp reading
On the tow today up towards hill city, south dakota the oil temp reading on the gauge display of my 2012 f350 diesel got up to 237f for a brief period. You could tell the aux fans were on to cool it down because they do make noise. Is this in line with others when doing some steep climbing that lasts for awhile? John

I don't think 230 or so will hurt. You might keep a check on your oil cooler. The 6.7s have a different cooler than my 6.4. It's in the low tempture part of the cooling system so I don't know how often the clog up but in the 6.4 they do clog up.

Our 6.7 rarely gets above 210. I keep it on gauge mode when climbing. Have not seen the temperature you describe.

240-246 is fairly normal for me pulling up some of the long (7 miles) 6%+ grades in the Sierra Nevada's and Cascades. The truck will take preventative measures before it gets too hot. I did have my previous 6.4L turn off the A/C when climbing the Ashland Grade at 60 MPH in a temperature of 101 degrees (no temp gauges in a 6.4L). The 6.7L has done that same climb and the A/C stayed with oil temp around 240. I do back off when the temps get that high. But the Ford forums all say "no problem!".

Carl, I have to ask: "Did you measure the clearance to that tree, or were you just really lucky?"

Thanks for all the replies, makes me feel much better. As to the tree beside carl and susans monte...my vote is that he has a fake tree that he uses in such cases. Knew a guy that carried a fake power pedistal that he used when boondocking...so why not a fake tree. Really appreciate the forum. John

The tree is real although I do have a fake power pedestal (water and electric) that I put out when boon docking in the desert. It has fooled a number of people.
The picture makes it look as though the tree is really close to the slide. Actually it was in front of the edge of the slide. There was a tape measure and some serious eyeballing involved in positioning. The space was super long (Whistler has big pull-thrus) as you can tell by the truck parked in front and the free space to the rear. I could have parked further forward or backward but I really wanted the door to open onto the picnic table area.
