Interior noise level
Hi All, question to the ones that have owned multiple Montana's, I had a 2010 3150 RL for 5 years, this past February we purchased a 2015 3582RL and the DW's only complaint is the outside noise you can hear when inside the unit. Our 3150 was much more quiet than the new unit. My question , was the construction of the walls changed between 2010 and 2015, is it the new frameless windows, maybe the fact that is sits that much higher than the 3150 did. Not that I can do anything about it, just curious about the thoughts of the "experienced" Montana owners. Thanks all....Happy travels

Nope, I had single pane on both units. I thought the double might quiet things down also.

We have a 2014 3582RL and my DW complains of the noise especially in the bedroom.

The manufacturers go for the temperature insulating factors primarily. Sound deadening is a whole different ball game. You don't get much deadening in 2 inches of wall space. And sound insulation is completely different from thermal insulation. Basically, we are living in a "drum" so to speak. Interior floor plan has some effect as well. Plastic (acrylic) or metal exterior, thin wallboard interior, mainly for weight, and metal studs as well. No not very acoustically built. But, hopefully you won't be camping alongside a freeway, and are in a quiet campground. That said, we're in far better shape for noise than our friends who are sleeping in a tent trailer......!

Tak Pak, very true, I do understand your reasoning and it makes perfect sense. Was just a general question of curiosity as the wall construction of the 2010 and the 15's appears to be the same at least according to Keystone website

J-KB. that is the same comment, complaint that my wife has. not a big deal, just noisier than my 2010 was. Pretty much same floor design on 3582 as my 3150 had

I have had a 2004,2012 and my new 2015 and My 2015 is a quiet as the 2012 and WAY better insulation than my 2004 Big Sky,but anyway that has never been a complaint from me and my wife about noise in 4 years of fulltiming as we always stay in nice campgrounds with noise restrictions and nice quiet folks and we always thought the sound of trains in the distance at night or the sound of the Ocean is always cool,so I do not want it too quiet in my rig

This is our 3rd Montana and we have to agree with you on the noise coming through more. Our two previous Montana's were a lot quieter on stopping the outside noise then this one is. If anyone is outside we can hear everything they say or do out there. But this one is a lot more comfortable.

To be honest noise was the least of our problems. I do not recall of ever complaining about excess noise from outside. Wellll maybe at the Fall rally in Goshen.
