Goose Neck and 5th Wheel hitches?
Does anyone haul both a goose neck trailer and a 5th wheel? Not at the same time, of course. What kind of hitch do you use?

There has been lots of discussion re use of goose necks. The bottom line for me, is when we went through the Montana plant, the keystone folks were emphatic that the frame was not designed for use with a goose neck and that they would not honor any warranty work on the frame if used. I did not understand their discussion re the stress calculation/logic, but I did understand what they said about the warranty. Folks do use them, and swear by them.

Sounds as though you are speaking of towing two different trailers, one with a gooseneck (stock or utility trailer?) and one with a 5th wheel hitch (the Monty?).
A very popular hitch for such is the B&W Turnover Ball with a Companion hitch. Haven't used one myself but they get lots of praise.

B&W makes a goose neck and a Companion fifth wheel to go with it. It is the best of both. The fifth wheel hitch is easy to install. the goose neck leavs a flat thuck bad. A lot of us have the B&W and all like it.

Thank you all. Yes, I am talking about two separate trailers. A horse trailer with the goose neck and soon to have the Monty with the 5th wheel. No question that the Monty can't be converted to a goose neck, nor can the horse trailer be converted to a 5th wheel, primarily due to the irregular terrain that we pull it over. I already have the ball built into the bed of the truck, but it sounds like my best bet is to look at the B&W.

When I bought my truck, it had a gooseneck hitch. I installed a fifth wheel in the bed and the gooseneck is still there.

Yup, if I were in the market for a new fifth wheel hitch (I have a Valley/Husky and I am left with bed rails when it is removed.... UGH), it would be a B&W. The mounting hardware mounts under the truck bed so the truck bed remains stock looking. Then the gooseneck ball drops into the mount for the horse trailer and the base and head drop in as well to support the fifth wheel. It's the best of all worlds - fifth wheel, gooseneck and a flat bed when not towing). Plus they are very strong and solid! There are other brands but I prefer to go with what's more popular and proven.

B&W is exactly what you are looking for.

Check out the Star Performance Hitch (Kingpin Adapter - more commonly known as Gooseneck adapters).
I've used it on mine since 07 as my truck came with a turnover ball.

We have the Hensly TSLB2H air ride hitch which has the optional gooseneck adapter. It is nice to be able to adjust the hitch as you drive depending on the conditions. Switching between the two hitches is pretty simple.
The hitch is not cheap, around $3,200 but well worth the ride!

We have a B & W turnover ball for our four horse gooseneck trailer and a Companion 5th wheel hitch for the Monty. It is a great combination. I would recommend it for anyone who uses both types of hitches.
