Momtanas are NOT bullet proof

I know this is a little late but a 357 bullit came down from the sky on New Years Eve and through the roof and hit the bed between the couple that was sleeping there. It did bruse her leg but they are fine and very LUCKY. The Montana has a hole in the slide-out.

Was that someone on the forum?

Did you see this in a news report or did this happen to you? I'd be interested in reading details and/or links to news articles.

Great things worked out ok, some folks are just plain stupid, no other explanation for someone shooting a gun in the air in celebration. Always wondered how many are killed in the middle east by that type of behavior.

I can answer that for you; not enough!
You think they got that celebration tradition from John Wayne?
Yep, some folks are just plain stupid.

For what it is worth, the same bullet used in a 357 can also used in a 38 Special and other similar caliber guns. So there is no way of knowing what specific caliber gun it came from unless it could be traced back to a specific gun.
Not saying that I am doubting that it happened.

Lucky? If they would have been lucky the bullet would have missed the camper.

Well this year it happened in Paul's Rv Park in Brownsville. TX. Not to a Montana but another unit while the owners were attending the Park New Years party. No one was hurt. This is a common way the locals celebrate the new year in the RGV. Brownsville PD have patrols looking for this type of behavior every New Year's eve. Guess Billy C. said it all when he sang "God is great, Beer is good and people are crazy.

People think firing into the air is safe. Bullets come back! You are lucky! In many respects we all are.
Every round fired should hit an intended target. Otherwise it is a dangerous and stupid shot!

Hazmic, did that bullet go through the vent cover or did it go through the rubber roof and its backing?

It went through the slid-out roof. It is being checked by the law so there is not any info out.
