3400 Antenna - Roof Problem

On Nov 2 I posted "Posted
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We finally picked up our new 3400RL Tuesday evening, took it home (150 miles away). Yesterday, for some odd reason I decided to go on the roof and look around.

Found that the TV antenna had rubbed a hole in the rubber roof. There are no stop blocks mounted for the antenna to rest on. Has anyone else had this problem?? Now I have to come up with a solution to that and will e-mail the factory.
------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to admit Keystone is good, I sent pictures of the roof and had a prompt reply that they would re-roof the unit. We came off the road last week and the new roof is being installed starting Tuesday.

We also noted that we really didn't find a single thing to complain about in the unit, it's not bad, not bad at all. Can't wait to hit the road again.

Hi JimF

There has been the exact same postings in the past. Not many, but on the odd one it seems to happen. Glad they are going to look after you quickly.

This is something that I am going to keep a watch on. Ours was touching the roof also. No damage. I did bend the antenna element upward some to prevent contact. Will check it out in the spring to see if the element reverted to old position. I have some concerns about this.

When DH was up on the roof giving it a scrub he noticed that the antenna could damage our roof. He asked me if anyone else was posting on the board about a solution to this problem. He never reads the boards so this was just an observation by him when he was up there. We are concerned about this problem as well.

Our neighbor has thin rubber tubing glued to the bottom of the tips of his antenna to protect his roof

I would have never thought of this. Thanks for the heads up. Bob is going to put a roof patch on the spot to keep it from rubbing through. Thanks, again.

I had noticed about five years ago that my antenna was rubbing the roof so I put down a layer of Eternabond tape under the antenna, over the spots where the ends of the antenna were tending to vibrate on. Have checked it several times and it's working superbly.
