AC power and T stats

Has anyone ever switched the power for Thermostats to a power supply rather than the batteries? We have had issues with our converter which caused the batteries to discharge and we lost the AC thermostats as a result. We can live without 12volt lights but those AC units are mission critical.....

Since we can obviously only use the ACs when hooked up to shore power is there any reason we couldn't install thermostat power supplies like you use in a house (granted I'm not sure what the voltage of those are)?

Also is there any reason why you couldn't run the second AC off of an heavy duty extension cord coming off of the 110v plug/breaker on the campground pedestal? Sort of a cheat like the old Y connectors used to be before the Ground Fault plugs stopped us from using them?

First tomorrow we'll be installing a third AC and will power it just as you have in mind. That's the good news, the bad news is that the thermostat will still use 12v power from the coach as will the controls on your frig etc. Can you fully explain the problem you're having with your batteries. With a new unit that shouldn't happen, but a lot of things can be in play. For instance if you store your unit and turn off the battery disconnect the thngs that aren't cut off like the propane detector will drain your battery and kill it. Then it won't hold a full charge anymore. Just one example. If you describe your battery problem we can probably help.
