How do I get the invoice print of a Montana?

Can anyone tell me how to get the invoice price of a Montana 3075. All the dealer will show me is a typed page that he calls the MSRP, he is willing to discount 10% off of this MSRP.

So far he is offering a trade-in that is 1/3 the price we paid for our 17 ft trailer 16 months ago.

Unfortunately, the next closest Montana dealer is 100 miles away.

You should be able to get at least 20-25% off the MSRP. I would take my business elsewhere, even if it is 100 miles away. Just remember you will be dealing with this dealer after the sale too. just my 2cents. Allison

I would also suggest looking elsewhere. It sounds like your dealership does not want your business. Sometimes that 100 mile drive can turn into 1,000's in savings. Best of luck in your rv shopping.

You can even get some camparitive pricing online from dealers, to use as a baseline.

That is exactly my concern. This dealer is only 8 mile from my house and 2 miles from where I will be storing the 5th wheel. It would be so nice for those little after purchase things that need to be dealt with. The other dealer is a 200 mile round trip if I need service or warranty work.

BirdingRVer,

Like one of the other posters indicated, go get some comparisons on the net and another dealer and show your dealer the results, and see what he will do then. I basically played one against the other and took the best deal and made sure the dealer I chose was personal and would take care of me after the fact. They treated me right and I wrote them an appreciation letter and CC'd Keystone. I still stop by and buy things from their camping store. I haven't had my unit in there since I purchased it and hopefully it stays like that. If you think you can deal with this dealer than go for it, but you definetly can get more than 10% off the MSRP, and think most folks here will tell you that. good luck to you.

I think Skoobdo meant if the dealer is no prize to deal with now ... wait till after you've bought from him ... after money changes hands, it usually gets worse. Just my interpretation and experience. I saved about $7300 by driving @ 175 miles. I could have made several trips (if needed) for that $7300.

I wouldnt let the salesguy know that you would rather buy from him because he is closer, He will use that to his advantage.
Once he realizes that you are shopping around looking for a better deal he will get off his keester and try to make you a better deal.
If you have the time, You may want to order it instead. It was cheaper for me to order than get one off the lot.
After it was all said and done I, We got more than 10% off MSRP.

We got way more than this from a bad dealer. You should be able to do much, much better from a good dealer. May be worth the trip. I would gladly drive a little if we had a good dealer anywhere near us.
Happy trails........................

Grant We just purchased our 2007 3500. My local dealer, I wont mention the name but it is the only Montana dealer in NJ discounted a 2006 3400 about 15%.. I made an on line offer to a dealer in PA that was 20% off msrp. Long story short-- I drove 120 miles and bought a 2007 3500 same basic msrp as the 3400 for 25% off msrp and got $2800 more for my trade!! Take the ride check other dealers on line. 10% off is a joke! Good Luck and have fun shopping!

325 miles for $4,000 savings. 33% off MSRP. Some have done even better. I wouldn't be afraid to get out further than 100 miles for one of the most expensive purchases most will make.

Lets see. MSRP of $60,000. 10% is $6000. Average discount is 25-30% of $60,000 = $15-18,000. that is $9000 to $12000 saved by a 200 mile trip. At 10 miles per gallon at $3.25 per gallon that is 27692 - 36923 miles. Hmmm. Looks like you can afford quite a few trips to a better, more competitive dealer. I suggest that you see how many Montana dealers there are within 1/2 days drive, send them an e-mail with what you are looking for and then show their responses to your local dealer. You may find him more willing to talk. You next question will then be the tough one...will he actually be willing to service your rig and can you trust him with it. You might want to go to any local CG and see if there are any Montana's there. Check with them and see if they bought their rig at your local dealer and what his service has been like. Check the BBS or Chamber of Commerce. Next time when you talk to you will be armed for bear...and you might just find out he is a ***** cat. Good luck.

Is the 20% to 25% the normal amount off all over. I live in Surrey B.C. and will be dealing in B.C. or Washington

First you must get the "real" MSVRP not a dealer generated one. They can put anyting on that MSVRP. Perhaps someone who has purchased recently can share with you. As above a MSVRP of @ 56/58K on a nicely optioned 3075 would be close and I would not even talk to a dealer that would not offer 20% just for starters. I would tell the Dealer that offered 10% that he has insulted you and it would take another 15% off to get uninsulted. Note..A Google of Montana 3075 price came up with a range of 54,253 to 61,200 MSVRP,,see what we mean????

Thanks All

Of course you are right I need to look further a field for a better deal. I think because our new truck deal went so well I expected the same for the 3075. There are many car dealers near by and I sent an email to all of the Chevy and GM dealers in a 20 mile radius in the morning asking for there price for a 3500 dually equipped the way I wanted it and I bought the truck that afternoon, in a no pressure deal that I am very happy about. The dealer I bought the truck from is almost the furthest away.

This was our third trip to see the 3075 but, once they saw the new truck they went into a hard sale mode that hadn’t been there before. I got 4 calls yesterday from them each time with a different way to structure the deal but, none of them improved the actual out of pocket expense.

Fortunately, with winter coming I am not in a hurry. My only deadlines are, I would like to have a few shake down trips before the MOC Spring Rally and we have targeted June 2007 as our fulltime departure date.

Again thanks for all of the words of encouragement.

Grant

If it were me I would do like many here have mentioned and send out an E'mail to any dealer within 500 miles and tell them what you are looking for and let them know you are looking for the best deal and willing to wait for one to be delivered if they do not have one in stock. The next part I read in a post from SREIGLE. After you receive the first round of quotes back, take the best offer so far and send them all a second chance to beat the best deal from the first round. This can all be done over the internet and shouldn't take more than a month. Then compare the best 2-3 prices and decide which dealer will be the best to work with out of the top 3 and you get a great deal and a good dealer to work with.

Even if you get 30% off, and you should, the dealer has a 40% markup at least, so at 10% you are getting taken--used to sell 'em.

I am kind of irritated. Why did somebody edit my posting? You make it appear that I said something wrong when I did not. I resent being edited because you are on a plane that the rest of this forum isn't.

We live in Northern California and bought our 3075 last May from Tripple A RV in Grants Pass, Or. It had a MSVRP of $53,332 and we got 23% off. I was more concerned about what the actually price would be than about the MSVRP or amount of discount. We have taken five trips so far and have not had any problems and really do like the floor plan.
