How many MOC members Monitor CB Chnl 13
I wonder how many of you monitor CB channel 13 when on the road.
It is slowly becoming a RV channel. I would like to see more of us RV'ers monitoring it.
Let me know who's on it.
Thanks
Bob

I usually monitor 19 to listen for accidents or whatever. I guess I should go to 13 and see if anything goes on. I sure don't need to hear those truckers and knowing where the cops are sure doesn't affect me at the speed I drive.

We don't usually have the CB on, but will try to remember to monitor 13 from now on.

I run ch 19 most of the time, but just got a new Cobra cb installed and it has the option to monitor two channels at once. I will have to program 13 into the unit. Have not been able to raise the other Montana's that have passed me on 19, will have to see how it goes on 13.

RMccord,
I think the question should be more like who has a CB radio in their TV? We use to run with the CB radio but havent had a CB for almost 4 years now. I stopped using it due to all the trash talk that was going on. It just got so bad I took the radio out. I would certainly get another one if I knew the trash talk etc was gone but I am afraid it probably isn't.

We have not had a CB for years what with cell phones and when we caravan with our camper club we use the family radios. However I did hook one up at the house. We are less than a mile from the ohio turnpike. CB seems a lot calmer that it used to be.It is good to monitor for traffic problems but got tired of hearing all the mother this and mother that and worse. Will put one back in the new truck and give it a try.. Breaker one nine .. This is the ole Silver Bullet with Snowhawk riding shotgun.

I have monitored channel 13 several times & have't heard any vulgar talk. Once coming home from Tx. some Spanish men was talking. It went on for several minutes. NOt sure if they were using foul lang, or not.

I have heard many RV'ers are trying to get more and more to monitor this channel for just saying hello and passing on information etc. I think it is a great idea and if we support it in a couple of years the number who do may amount to enough to actually get information we could use in areas and pass along info to each other when weather, accidents, detours etc come up. Of course can monitor the truckers but that can be salty.
Thanks
Bob

I monitor 19 exclusively. If I see another RVer the first thing I do is try to call them on 19. If I receive no answer I will than try 13. No answer and I am back on 19.
My CB is on when ever I am on the road and as I said "exclusively on 19". I will stay on 19 until such time as I can get constant traffic reports on 13, which, IMHO, will never happen. Just today I was saved a half hour delay by knowing there was a 3 mile back up on I-95 here in NC. I jumped onto 301 and was back on 95 one exit later with little to no delay. This was just one of many many times I was able to avoid traffic problems and I can't tell you the number of times I possibly would have gotten tagged by radar had I not had advance notice. Add "getting directions" from the locals to the equation and my CB becomes one of the items I do not want to do without.
