Level-Up recommended checklist item

Hello all. I was hooking up yesterday on the last day of vacation. After getting the truck hooked up and doing the pull test I hit the auto retract just like always. As the legs start coming up I looked down and saw that the front left landing gear foot was still sitting there on the pad no longer attached to the hydraulic ram. It had come completely loose. I then checked the other 5 and found 3 of them pretty loose. I obviously got real lucky and I would hate to lose one of these 2-3 pound metal disc going down the road! It is a 15/16 size bolt holding them on with a washer and two rubber "grommets". If you have level-up, recommend you add these to your checklist. -Glenn

Picked up our rig last year after having warranty work done. After hitching up, lifted the from jacks and I saw a hole in the pavement, which turned out to be the bolt half way unscrewed. Took a wrench to tighten, but started to turn the ram. Ended up using a small hammer to strike the wrench several times on each bolt to tighten the bolts. Do not need to find out the cost of one of those plates.

Huh? Using the wrench alone, it wanted to turn the ram, but hitting the wrench with a hammer didn't?? What is it that I don't understand?

Is this a good place to use Loctite?

Just curious, for those of you that have now checked, did you find any bolts loose? Maybe they just forgot to check mine? -Glenn

Inertia, my friend, inertia.

I think he means he was hitting the wrench to get an "impact wrench" type movement.

So what about the idea of using Loctite to keep the bolts in place. Good or bad???
