Remove Hub Caps

Simple question - I know. But my torque wrench does not like my hub caps on a 2019 3761FL. Have not had the need to remove the hub caps until now. Is it as simple as finding a slot and popping it off with a flathead screw driver?

If you want to remove the hub caps you will need to remove the wheel. The hub cap is fitted from the inside to the outside of the wheel. Just buy yourself a 1/2 in. drive stubby extension, this will get your torque wrench away from the hub caps. The flex on a very short extension is very little and not enough to worry about. I have been doing this for years and have never had a wheel loosen up.

You can use any length extension without any affect on the applied torque. What will affect applied torque would be a crowfoot type attachment which changes the length of the lever.

I use an 8" extension with my torque wrench. With that length you can use one hand to steady the wrench as well.

A note - don't use a torque wrench t as a lever arm to break the lug nuts loose.
