I am now a new mountaineer owner!

OK, I just bought a 5th wheel at the rv show! Montana mountaineer 342PHT with every option available. It's more than I started out wanting to spend, but I think I got a good rig. Seperate bunk room with its own couch and TV! Kids are gonna love it!

Dirk,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new coach. The Mountaineers are great coaches and I think you get a lot of bang for the buck. We have had our unit for almost 4 years and have really enjoyed it. Please jump in with any questions you may have and be sure to share your future adventures.

fulltimedreamer, I saw that Satellite prep is included in the "value package" that mine came with. However, I only saw cable TV jacks at the TV locations. Did you get that with yours? Can it be "skillfully" installed by the dealer?

Congrats on the new coach. Glad to have you join the MOC, and remember to keep us updated on how your new Mountaineer is treating you this summer.

That bunk house feature is one thing not available in the Montanas. Should be a great feature for a family. Your excitement comes through. Congratulations!!!! Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your new Mountaineer! I am sure you will enjoy it. The Montana 3295RK was larger than we wanted, but we adjusted! It wasn't very difficult! Yours should be well worth the extra money you spent.

Welcome Dirk to the MOC family. From the sound of it you are really excited about your new rig and who can blame you. The Mountaineer is a great 5er and that model is a great family rig. I know you and the family will enjoy it.

Now as soon as you get that picture of the trailer and TV email it to me for inclusion on the MOC Owners Rigs pages.

I installed a Satellite "plug" on the side of my new Mountaineer TT, right next to the TV area. Purchased a Satelite plug made for RVs at the dealership ( can be purshased eleswhere), cut the hole, sealed all and all works great. Looks just like a factory install. You only have to cut a hole large enough for the coax.

Mine did not come with Satellite prep back in 2002, so I added it myself. Here's a link with what I did:

I'm sure your dealer can add something similar if you do not already have what you need.

Since I didn't get Sat. Prep with my rig and it was supposed to be installed from the factory, what do you think would be fair for the dealer to do to make up for it? Or should I just let it pass? Also, can you hook a Sat. to the cable TV input as long as you only hook a reciever at one location in the coach?
Thanks for all the good wishes and the info!

I BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN GO IN WITH THE SAT TO THE TV INPUT AND BE OK, SOMEONE ELSE HAS A TV CABLE DIAGRAM AND WILL PROBABLY POST IT FOR YOU, GLAD YOU MADE IT OVER TO THIS SITE SO SOON.
