Fridge quit getting cold
Goodmornin! Got a problem with the fridge, it no longer gets cold in fridge or freezer? Control panel lights up, seems to also work on gas but no cold? I saw a thread about the thermistor problems, where is that located? I have a Dometic NDR1062 model in our 07 3400RL. I do have 120 power and all fuses appear to be ok, no loose wires? Got to -11 here in Moab 2 nights ago and thats when I think it quit? ANY help would be appreciated, 2 hours from a dealer and would rather fix myself if possible. Been fulltimin in it for 3 1/2 yrs. so it has worked hard. Thanks in advance for any input. Happy New Year!

It should be on the right side (looking at it) on the last fin.It slides up and down. It connects to a terminal on the control panel outside.. It sounds like itwent bad. It is not expensive and C.W carries them

Seems like I read some where that the absorption refrigerators will not do well when the ambient temps get real cold.

Ron,
Look for additional threads on this subject. Someone had one freeze up and all the tech did was bounce it around. Your fix is on this site someplace.

I called Dometic and the gal told me that possibly the coolant gelled? Told me to heat the area behind fridge, so I have a 1500 W heater hooked up and a little tent built around the bottom vent and am blowing hot air in there and have the top vents 90% covered, it is getting warm and all is SAFE! Funny thing is there is a guy in a motorhome with the same problem, his RV tech told him to do the same thing! I will let this heat over night and give it a try again.............heres hopin! I will order thermistor in the AM also. Thanks again.

A few rigs her place a 60 watt bulb in the refer compartment and just leave it on during the winter as needed. Seems to work for them.

Had the same problem in Kansas when it got down to 2. Called our dealer and he said sometimes the Dometic "gets confused" when there is a sudden or somewhat sudden drop in temperature. Something about the thermistor wire that goes through the back of the fridge is subject to outside temperatures and the sudden drop makes the fridge think it is too cold so it quits cooling. He suggested three things and this worked for us. The bulb had to be in there for a few days before it fully recovered. I'm now in Texas and it's working great.
1. 60w bulb behind the outside door, inside that cabinet.
2. move the thermistor all the way to the top so it will sense warmer air and try to cool more.
3. move the thermostat on the door to the coldest setting.
As I said, it worked. The temp setting is now back at 3 and the bulb removed. I left the thermistor in the highest position.
3 hours likely is not enough.

We just had the same problem and it was the heat tube. Dometic covered the part but not the labor. We had a mobile service come out and fix it for $169. If I knew how to trouble shoot the electrical end it would have been an easy fix.
