RV Mail and FAA Pilot's Residential Address

Hi all:

My wife and I have been full-timing for nearly 2 years, for much of it i have been working. I recently retired and we are in the process of changing our domicile to Florida. Previously, we had used my daughter's address as our residential address.

I hold an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate and in the process of attempting to change my address I discovered that the FAA will not accept our unique Good Sam address as a residential address (even though the state of Florida will).

So I am wondering what pilots who RV full time and use a mail service to provide a "residential" address are doing to update the residential address on your certificates?

In this time of "Real ID" it seems that those of us living a nomadic lifestyle may not be able to enjoy the full benefits of citizenship! In my case, it looks like the next time I go to renew my FAA certificate, I may not be able to do so since the address listed on my FL drivers license will be a business address as far as the FAA is concerned.

Has anyone been able to work this out?

Thanks!

Use your daughters address. She can forward any FAS mail to you. That’s what we do when traveling.

We have been fulltime since March 2017 and we use Escapees Mail forwarding service. They provide us with a "real" address and we have never once had an issue with mail not reaching us. They can also walk you thru the domicile issues.

This all relates to 9/11. It isn't just FAA, Financial Institutions are forcing this on many of the full timers.

As above, use someones 'real' address' for those documents.

So I updated the IACRA and Airman Services websites (pilots will know what these are) with a new mailing address and kept the residential address as my daughter's place. I assume that will work for now as long as the address on my driver's license matches one of them? I hope it does not cause confusion when I renew my Remote Pilot certificate next year.

We have maintained our current bank/financial accounts and so have only updated the mailing address. Apparently it is just fine to use a relative's address as your residential address even if you don't live there. Seems to be a "fill in the blank" exercise that no one really checks on.
