Guess I need to proof read my replies. That would be tours of the city.

Sorry, thought that was maybe a "southern thing" since we have never been to the south before.

Phil,
While in Savannah eat at Paula Dean's (Lady & Two Sons, I think is the name)restaurant. You have to get "in line" at 9am to 9:30 am each morning to make a reservation. You make a reservation for either lunch or dinner (or both). You select one of the seating times.
The food is the southern style, they have both menu and buffet. Good food.
Skidaway was an enjoyable state park, very rustic. If you are not aware, you pick your own site when you arrive.
We also took a day trip to Hilton Head, we had never been there. Nice area and there is a campground just across the causeway going into Hilton Head. This looks to be a nice RV park for a stay if interested in staying in Hilton Head.
Have a great trip, sure looks fun and wish we were able to join you on the same adventures. Hopefully soon.

Thanks Bob, Will keep Paula Dean's in mind. Choosing our own site is good as that is what we do at 1000 Trails, except you have to drive around somewhat to find a good site......

We stayed at Ocean Lakes and are looking at returning there in Oct. It was very nice. So much to do you never have to leave the campground. That would be a shame becasue the whole area is packed with things to do.

If you haven't made it to Hatteras, recommend the campground just before the Hatteras KOA. I think it is the Hatteras Sands, it has concrete pads and larger sites than the KOA. Most importantly, it does not flood during heavy rains as it did when were were at the KOA there a couple of years ago. Tim

There are two ways to get to Hatteras Island. One is by ferry from Cedar Island or Swanquarter to Okrakoke Island. These are the only toll ferries in NC and you need to make a reservation. Then take the ferry to Hatteras Island. It's a pretty trip and the ferry's will accomodate trailers. The alternative route is to take Route 64 from Washington, NC ( the original Washington) to Nags Head. PM me if you want more info on this route. I've done it in a car and it's a nice trip.
