Freezer
HI, we are looking for a small freezer that will fit in the "basement".
It can not be over 17" high. Have tried the net, but to no avail. 19"
seems to be the smallest. Is such a freezer possible? Would appreciate any and all information.
Thank you.

Can't help with the smaller freezer. I am always looking for alternative solutions. If you don't have a washer/dryer installed, you might consider puting that 19" in that closet. Just a thought.

Is 17 inches the highest point at the location where the freezer will ride or is that the point at which it clears the overhead pipes? If the latter, maybe you could lay the freezer down, slide it in, then stand it up behind the pipes?

Hi thank you for your responses...both good ideas but,
re putting in sideways...ok for going in but then not enough room to tip up.
re: washer & dryer area...thought of that and a very good place, but that would mean cutting through & putting in a vent. We assume that it has to be vented.
Again, thank you.

Yes, I would think you might need air flow. Perhaps that could be handled by altering the closet door to make it louvered at both the top and the bottom. Two decorative floor grates or smaller ones might do the trick.

There are MOC friends, John and Marge (JLBOZ60) who have a freezer in their rig and they keep it up in the clothes closet in the bedroom. We saw it at the Rally this past September. Maybe he'll stop by and tell you what he did. I think his will work on DC current as well? In that area you could hang shorter items maybe?

How wide is the 19" tall freezer....and where did you locate it? We are wanting a small one that would go in the washer/dryer space. The opening is 25" if the folding doors are removed, but 19" side to side clearance with the doors in place.

Norcold makes a freezer that is 17 3/8' high x 31 1/8 wide and 19 1/4 deep. It is a AC/DC model with a switch to convert it from ref. to freezer.Check with Norcold it is model MRFT-60 with lift out storage basket and works off level upto 30 degrees.
Any RV dealer who sells Norcold should be able to get it.
Hope you can use this one.

We have a Sears 7 cubic feet freezer in our washer/dryer closet. We had to convert the bi-fold door into one that opened in the middle. Check for earlier posts in the archive post for more details. Good Luck in finding the right freezer.
