Roadside Assistance

Our Good Sam Roadside Assistance is expiring at the end of January. We originally got the plan for 2 years at a cost of $99 at the RV show in Harrisburg, PA. This plan includes any vehicles owned by us. Good Sam offered to extend our plan another 2 years for $149.95. Is this reasonable? Any better plans out there? AAA? Thanks for your input!

You might look at Coachnet. I read all the posts I found in this and other forums before signing up for Coachnet. What I found was that people are at least as satisfied, if not more so, with Coachnet as with Good Sam. And like Good Sam, they are geared toward the RV market.

I have had them for 2 years but have not yet had occasion to use them. So can't really comment on their service.

I've had Coachnet for three years and used both the road service for our car and also have used them to try and find a mobile repair man when we were somewhere that I didn't have a review on anyone in the area. They've been good for us and we would recommend them. Before Coachnet we had AAA and discovered that even though we had the RV plan and extra coverage, AAA of Kansas told me our rig was too big so if our truck broke down they would leave the trailer by the side of the road. The sales people assured me that wouldn't happen so I called the # for road service and asked the folks we would call when needed. They told me they wouldn't tow the trailer so it didn't matter what the sales people had to say.

I would stay away from AAA. They are not as RV friendly as they try to make it sound. Have been with Good Sam Roadside for a couple of years and they have been very good to us when we needed them.

I'm sure there are lots of different opinions and experiences on each of the services from everyone. Just have to average them out I suppose and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.

We had Goodsam for Roadside assistance until we had a vandal stab our tire. Goodsam doesn't cover roadside assistance if it's vandalism. I felt violated twice.

I have roadside assistance with my extended warranty, have roadside assistance with my truck warranty, and have roadside assistance with my full time RV insurance. I have always questioned these extra stand alone roadside assistance packages, is it just an extra blanket of coverage? Haven't needed one yet so after I experience a break down I may change my mind and get another separate one.

We have CoachNet and have used it about 3 times so far... They have been very quick with response time and have had no problems with their service. We have not had them tow our trailer at this point...

Those secondary roadside assistance setups are handled by a third party for whomever added to your other coverage and could be good or could be bad. The Honda coverage with my new Goldwing left me out in the boonies of OK with no help and no options. Everyone was very apologetic when it was all over, but that didn't solve the problem. My having my own road service with my own company in addition to Honda's is what saved my bacon. I used the Honda first because I thought they'd be more likely to handle a large expensive motorcycle properly. I was wrong and so I carry Coachnet no matter what happens along with my insurance or vehicle purchases.

Have had Coachnet for two years and used it twice. Both times they were extremely helpful, provided quick service with professional and competent people. Just renewed it for five more years.

We have Good Sam and used it twice. Long waits, but towed us where we needed to go for service. Once w/the truck and other w/truck and Monty hooked up. Towed us as far as we wanted for expert repairs to the truck.

We have GoodSam and used it last summer for the first time. Pickup and 5er sat on the interstate for 4 hours before someone showed up and they would not tow my 5er and pickup to the same place. Pickup blew the tranny so they wanted to tow it to a repair shop 35 miles away and tow the 5er to a campground 5 miles away. Can you see the issue. Lol We had to pay the tow driver an extra Benjamin to get both to the same location.

Over the years we have had I think about all the roadside services. We have Good Sam now. They have all given good service and we get the one that is the least expensive.

Our AARP Hartford policy included Roadside on Truck and RV. Used it one time. Very pleased!

I have had Coachnet in the past for several years. Never needed to use it. Now I have nothing. But if I was buying today, it would be Coachnet. NOT GoodSam.

Currently have AAA. Haven't needed them, knock on wood. Had Good Sam for years without needing to use them. When I finally did need'em, they were hours away and I wasn't in a position to wait around. That's the last time I had GS anything. However, that is my personal experience. Your results may vary.

Have Coach Net now and it covers all my vehicles including the bike and all drivers in my house. We have used it 3 times and each time has been quick and painless. Use to have Good Sam and the only time I needed them I got stuck in a campground when I went off the edge of the pad. Good Sam would not send a truck out because I was off the hard road????? Really, RV insurance and you won't go to a campground....... Yep I got Coach Net now.....

We use Good Sams and the price is good, but very disappointed in the response time. Will re-evaluate when we have to renew.

I have Coachnet and have been very satisfied with them. I spoke with a driver one tome who came out to change a flat for me and he advised that his company handles Good Sam, Coachnet and one other that I can't remember. I'm not sure if it really matters who you have if they're all using the same roadside assistance companies. AAA was outrageously expensive when I checked with them.

I just renewed our Good Sam for ONE year for $114.95, so that sounds like a good deal to me. I've had te coverage for over 10 years now and have used it twice. No problems at all.
