Florida Snowbird Parks
We are already starting to plan for next winter. We have decided not to come to Arizona, but head to Florida instead. Any suggestions on what area is good and what parks are nice and reasonably priced? We prefer to be in less crowded noisy areas and don't really need a whole lot of in park activities. Let's hear from all of you where you think is nice.

I like the park we are in OLDE MILL STREAM RV RESORT, Umatilla, Fla.
Gated community over 55. Lots of activity but quiet at the same time.

All depends on what you like. We like being near the Ocean, so we're here at Treasure Coast RV in Fort Pierce ( http://www.treasurecoastrv.com/). Between the Space Center and Palm Beach. we're about 20 to 30 minutes from the coast. Gated park with approx 260 sites, mostly Snow Birds, but they have 4 pull-thrus for overniters. We here for 5 months and already made reservations for 6 months for next season.

We are staying at Cross Creek RV Resort in Arcadia. http://www.crosscreekrv.com/ This is our second season here and we are planning on returning next year.
Arcadia is a quiet farming area about 45 minutes from the traffic of Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.
Our experience has been the closer to the coast and further south you get the more expensive and smaller the sites are.

Lynn & Pat:
Phyllis & I are in Blueberry Hill RV Park in Bushnell FL for the 5th year and hope to make it 6 years next winter.
This park works very well for our needs - we are currently working and connect via Verizon Air Card to our office server.
We are on a paved Pull Thru site in the front section.
The last couple of years they have been hosting a lot of Winter RV Rally's, which means constantly changing faces -- There are about 30 winter residents in our section of the park, the rest transinets.
The park is located about a 1/4 mile of I-75.
There is a Wal-Mart accross the street, which we can walk over too and CVS Pharmacy, Winn-Dixie and the Post Office are about 2 miles by Motor Vehicle.
We are in the "boonies", but close enough to Tampa & Orlando to take in the Tourist attractions if we desire.
Daytime Winter Temps are usually 60's and 70's, although it has been much warmer this winter, as it has all over.
The monthly rent is reasonable as well
Good Luck in Finding Your Winter Home

We're at Rock Crusher in Crystal River, Citrus County until April 1st. Large park(to us), decent prices, quiet, wooded, nice sites, pet friendly, about 10 min drive to the gulf. No mail service but rented a p.o. box nearby. Nice area with bike trails, manatees, light traffic, very kayak friendly, much warmer than Ohio!

The search is back on for winter 2013. We tried Olde Mill Spring as several suggest but they are firm on a limit of a 40 lb. dog. We travel with a yellow lab who is over the limit.
Ray and Phyllis we check out Blueberry Hill and it didn't get very good reviews, which made us somewhat uneasy making a reservation.
PatnRich Cross Creek looks like a possibility, but is a little more expensive than we would like to pay. We having been staying in Arizona for under $500.
We have also looked on the web at Southern Palms in Eustis Florida, Three Flag in Wildwood Florida, Red Oak in Bushnell Florida, or Wilderness in Silver Springs Florida. Any thoughts on any of these?
Any other suggestions are welcomed.
If all else fails, we may end up taking Rondo's suggestion and have no set plan at all.
Thanks everyone for you help.

I use to stay at Southern Palms. It is ok. The sites are very tight/narrow. That was the reason I went to Olde Mill Stream. If OMS was not available I would stay at Southern Palms again. Yes OMS is solid on no dog over 40lbs. You mentioned $500. That may be harder to find.

We are booked at Treasure Coast RV at Fort Pierce, FL. We like the beach. Last January we stayed at Palm Beach Travelers in Lakeworth, FL in the greater Palm Beach area. It is a nice little park with friendly rv-ers, but it is a close fit with some awnings almost touching the neighboring rv. We fished, birdwatched, and went to the beach along with doing many south FL sight seeing adventures including the Everglades. We met and made good friends there. We moved up to Rainbow Resort in Frost Proof for February. Rainbow is beautifully landscaped and well managed with much activities. We did several central FL sight seeing trips including Solomons Castle, and FL Flywheelers along the the in-park activities. It is out in the country-side located in the middle of many thousands of acres of orange groves and it is quiet. Then we moved up to Inverness for March to Thousand Palms RV Park. The park is a quiet park with Spanish moss hanging form oaks with many palm trees and is next to the river public ramp halfway between Inverness and I75. There we biked the Withlacoochee Trail, and with other guests, our new friends, we biked along the canal to bay trail and boated the protected Rainbow River, and kayaked on the Withlacoochee River along with several sight seeing trips to nearby attractions. We spent 2 weeks in AZ in April including the MOC Spring Rally, and like it out there, but its FL for us this winter.

Thanks you everyone for your comments. Keep em coming.
John, we are not necessarily locked into $500, but don't won't to spend all of our kids inheritance in one winter on the campground.
Thanks again.

You have already figured out that "one size does not fit all". We quickly figured that out when we started "long timing". We spent our first winter in Florida and put about 9000 miles on the truck. We went up, down, and everywhere in between. We decided Florida was expensive and not very user friendly. Most Snowbirds were but the locals were not. We went to Texas and have been very happy there for six years. FWIW we pay about $500 a month, electric included, for a three month stay. I believe the park across the street is about $1200 + electric for the season. There are pretty nice places even cheaper. Winter Texans are friendly and so are the natives.

We have sub-leased a site at traveller's rest near Dade city. The rate includes electric. We haven't been there before but it was recommended by friends of ours as quiet, friendly and well maintained. There is a nine hole golf course in the resort. We don't golf but I might try the driving range.
