surround sound replacement suggestions ?

Hello All,
I finally had some time to try hooking up the surround sound system in my '07 3600RE, and found it to be junk, like so many of you before me.

Ive searched and read many threads here, about how the QR-4000 is basically trash and that several of you ended up replacing it.
I'm fine with doing that, (replacing it), but I'd prefer to find something that will fit in the space where it sits. this space is only 3 1/8" tall.

Can anyone here recommend a surround sound system ( Brand and Model # ), that will fit in this short height space ?

Thanks for any and all replies.
Cheers
Ron

My 2007 3075RL also has a small opening in my cabinet where it mounts, wide but short. Sounds similar to yours. When the OEM unit died I measured the width, height, and depth available, wrote it down, and went to Best Buy to see what I could find. They had only one that would fit. It was a Panasonic 5.1 surround sound, Blu-ray DVD player home theater system complete with new speakers. Base unit fit perfect. Speakers were slightly larger and required slightly enlarging the cabinet openings. Reused existing wiring. Sounds much, much better than original.

BUT. That was 10 years ago. Last few times I was in Best Buy and looked, they had nothing similar in size in any brand. May be hard to find something to fit now.

Take measurements of the components and contact Crutchfield. They usually have something that can help.

what do you all think of this one ?
will it work for my purposes ?

https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Bluetoot...9095360&sr=8-2

I'm certainly not a pro "Audio-phile", haha, and I dont need the mic/karoke functions ...
(hearing me sing is akin to a lady standing on a cat's tail wearing stilletto heals)

... but it WILL fit in the cabinet slot, that is only 3.25" tall.

I have identified all the factory speaker wires in the entertainment cabinet.
They are :

Front Left, Front Center, Front Right -
(all factory cabinet mounted, just above the TV)

Rear Left, Rear Right -
(factory mounted it the living room ceiling)

Sub Woofer -
(inside the cabinet above the TV)

and lastly, 2 more speaker wires that go to 2 speakers in the bedroom ceiling.

BTW- I'm not too concerned if the bedroom speakers don't get hooked up to the sound system in the living room.
Actually, I'd like to try and re-route those 2 wires into the bedroom TV cabinet, to hook them up only to the bedroom TV.

I am still looking around on Amazon, Crutchfield, Ebay, etc.,
for more/other surround sound receivers that are 3.25" tall (or less), but just thought I'd toss his one out there to see what you all think.

Thanks for any and all replies
Cheers
Ron

Is the Quest device a DVD player plus a stereo? I don't see a DVD function, nor HDMI connections, included in that stereo you are looking at on Amazon.

Ron is the cutout 19" wide??? I haven't seen everything but I've not seen a rack mount component in an RV that I recall. IMO you lose functionality with that unit as it does not have a built in DVD/CD although it has inputs for an outboard unit - if you had the additional space.

I've looked through and it states it has 100watts RMS per channel (2). I would wonder how clean that power would be for $89. Another thing is "surround" sound. If that is what you want; this is a stereo (2 channels) receiver. It apparently has outputs for "surround" speakers but apparently is just piggybacking off the 2 channels and providing more speaker outputs. If you wanted true "surround" it might not be what you want.

Have you got a pic of the cutouts for the receiver etc.? Might help if trying to find something so you don't have to do a lot of woodworking.

Trying to attach pics
The space below the TV is where it needs to go.
It measures 3.25" tall x 27" wide

I would much prefer to not cut the cabinet below the TV.
I realize the 3 speakers above the TV are cheap, and if I eventually need to remove them and replace them, then that may happen in the future.
Perhaps a decent sound bar could be fitted to replace them.

Correct,
The link I posted is only an amplifier and FM radio tuner. It does not have DVD/CD.

The one I installed in mine is similar to the link below. Except this one is not Blu-ray.

Here is mine after installing the Panasonic.

Have you thought of just using a bluetooth Polk soundbar and wireless subwoofer. Literally one power cord and one HDMI cable and you're set. That's what we did and it sounds great. Being bluetooth you can stream your music from your phone. Those factory so called surround sound speakers sound awful.

Sonos Beam, Roku Streambar or from Bose the Solo 5 or TV Speaker should be enough and a huge improvement.

We no longer have our Montana but we have a motor home now. I wasn't happy with the sound bar the coach came with so I went with a Son Sound Bar, sub woofer, and two Sonos One speakers for 5.1 surround. They are also Amazon Echo enabled so I can stream my favorite music in. Incredible sound.
