2019 3761FL Propane Leak

Firstly, thanks in advance for any advice!

My wife smelled a strong propane smell inside the rig day 3 using it. I turned the furnace on day 1 using it just to see how it was. Then just used space heaters. But didn't turn off the propane tanks.

However, day 3, the wife complained about propane gas smells. Just looking for the best tips to find those scroungy gas leaks!

I do have the gas/carbon monoxide detector in the rig. Nothing kicked it off. She said it was a strong smell... I hardly smelled it but maybe there is a small leak somewhere. Where should I start? Does keystone have any breakdown of the infrastructure (IE gas line, water, and electrical) of the unit? So I have a map to follow?

Also, what's up with the rear (bedroom main bath) heat? Doesn't seem to get any heating to it. Anyone else notice that with this model.

You should turn off those propane cylinders and either get the rig to a dealer or shop that works on RV's, or get a qualified mobile RV tech to come out and do a leakdown test to determine if and where there is a leak. Are you smelling the gas or is it just your wife? There are some people that are extremely sensitive to the odorant in LP gas, and hopefully there isn't a leak, but this needs to be checked right away. Also, what rig do you have, year and model will help.

2019 3761FL as in the title. It was just the wife that smelled it but I turned it off right away anyways. I did possibly smell it but wasn't too sure though.

Where did she smell it. If it was in the livingroom you should check the tank connectors and regulators for leaks and on our 2010 they had over threaded the black pipe that crosses the front of the rig so no matter how tight the connections were it still leaked propane from those connections.

In that case, also check around the stove or frig. Is it possible that a burner was turned slightly on on the range?

I did check for that. I suppose your theory could still be true though, since propane would more than likely try to sink down to the kitchen anyways if it was coming from the living room?

Hope I get lucky tomorrow, I would prefer not having to take it in for repairs if can be avoided. I'll try the Ole soap and water trick wherever I can.

A couple of weeks ago I needed something out of a cabinet in rear of camper. I had to let slide with refrigerator/stove out just enough to squeeze between stove and island. Later that day when I walked near camper there was a strong propane smell. Opening the door smell was so strong I turned off propane and left door open for several hours before entering. Squeezing by stove I had opened one of the stove burner valves.
Hope this was enough in line with thread to be OK to post.

We had a smell in our trailer. It has a front bedroom. It was pretty strong there. I had always heard that propane was heavier than air and should go down from the pipes, etc; but we smelled it.
So I bought a propane detector (hand held) for around $25-30 and it is pretty sensitive. I think it was the hose from the tank to the crossover pipe and/or the pressure reducer. The reducer has some sort of hole that is used to let gas out (can't remember why) and they do leak at times. So I replaced the reducer and the pigtail hose and all is good.

There have been several times I thought I smelled something, so I like have the detector to check it and then feel safer.

I have had a leaking regulator/pigtails replaced under warranty. Another replaced by me.

I tried soapy bubbles on all the hoses in both tank holder compartments with no luck.

However, I did not notice any smells/odors today after turning it on again.

I'll go ahead and replace the regulator/pigtail.

The oven pilot light may have gone out. The thermal couple will allow a small amount of gas to leak until it cools off. If there aren't any other leaks, the odor will go away as the gas dissipates.

I haven't seen anyone say what should be the first rule when smelling propane - GET OUT OF THE COACH!! Propane is highly explosive!!

OK, so you want to find propane leak? You won't find it without pressure in the line. So now you need to turn on the tanks. You might want to schedule a visit from your local fire department. They can do a session on what NOT to do for people in the RV park. No charge! Good luck.

with propane off, lift top of the stove and see if gas line is properly connected.

BTW my wife is not able to smell gas. Some folks cannot smell gas.
