Well I got all my parts in !! Need to get some shears to get the firebox in good and tight. There doesn’t seem to be an exact place to mount the stand so I assume just place it over the opening and screw it down. I’m thinking placing the stand all the way forward since it’s angled and take it from there. Right now the stand and box are in for fitting purposes. Excited to get it done !!

Almost ready to put the genset in. The base is mounted the firebox is in caulked. All the lines are ran. Wiring to the in command system is done,1/2 the electrical connections are ready, battery and ground cables ready.

A stock exhaust won’t work I looked at them. Looks like I’ll have my neighbor make one. Is it ok to have the exhaust go straight back then 90 degree and out the passenger side..? Is there a certain way it needs to be ran ..?

Thanks !! This is a lot of work.

The convention seems to be to exit the exhaust out the driver's side. Every 5th or MH with an onboard generator that I have ever seen has been that way. It makes adding a venturi type exhaust extension easy and out of the way Plus do you really want the generator exhaust to be under your awning on the passenger side?

Yeah I know the drivers side. Some I have seen exit to the drivers side then down and out. I was wondering if I can go straight back out of the generator then out to the drivers side. Does it matter or just as long as it out the drivers side ...

**update **

Well I got everything installed and bolted in. Need to finish the electrical connections, finish the gas line, and reinstall the door. Going to work on the exhaust next. Picture is a little dark long night. Took 2 of my neighbors to get it in !!

we're doing the opposite... currently considering how to remove the generator enclosure in the front bay... any tips? We are going to use that space for our 600AH battery/solar/3000W magnum inverter infrastructure project and storage above.

Well I’m in trouble shooting mode. The genset runs and everything works at least that’s not the problem. The problem is the fridge and stove have no gas. The furnace works. Air gap maybe ...? Not sure. The pressure regulator on the passenger side is venting propane every 3 seconds. Thoughts ..?

Coming to a close !! It’s all done wired up everything is put away door back on, wires hung, all that’s left is the exhaust oh and foam up the hole where the wires and propane line came in.

I replaced the propane regulator on the passenger side. Seems to be good now. The in command system is fully functional prime, start, stop and it records hours ran. I’m pleased.

With the money I saved having it installed I purchased a in bed titan 50gal transfer tank. I think I’m done for a while now lol. Oh and it fits under the folding cover !! Pretty sweet.

A question for those that have the Onan, did any of you add some sort of venting to the door to let the heat escape? seems like it will get pretty warm in there from the engine heat.

We have the OEM Onan and no additional vents in the Door, but there is a warning to not operate the generator without it's access door in place. Needs that there to get the proper air flow in from one side of the floor and out the other.

No vents, but if it's going to run for a while, I prop open that baggage door. I've had the gen overheat and shut off in August after running for 8+ hours in 100° heat with the door shut. Also, keep an eye on the oil level if you're running it for hours at a time. It's only a two quart system.

Two things...
The passenger regulator has given me issues in the past with low flow.

Also, you don't need to prime the propane generator. Only for gas.

The 1-1/4 in tubing is hard to find. A local rv repair shop had a 10ft stick. They couldn't bend it, so I now own a 1-1/4 emt tubing bender.
