Solar question

Are any of you aware of a company in the good old U.S. that might custom make me a solar panel?
I am thinking... a problem right there.. about the possibility of adding just one more panel on my roof, can't have a bare spot up there, now can I?
See my signature for my equipment, but the panels are too big to add another in the space I am thinking about, not much, but I need a little smaller, has to be the same voltage; don't know if that kills the deal, but they might need to be longer, just slimmer than the footprint of the ones I have now.
Thanks and have a great Playoff Sunday.

My neighbor came over to watch football, she don't get out much..

Ozz, are you staying warm?
You are very mechanical, so how about building your own? I was looking at solar a few years back and saw a few sites that show how to build your own panel and buy the individual cells and connect them all together. It didn't seem that difficult. Then you could build one of any shape you want!!!
Good luck

Take a look at the warnings on this site: http://solarelectricityhandbook.com/...ar-panels.html Some of them don't apply because they're talking about some of the crazy stuff people claim in regard to home installations etc, and some won't apply to you Ozz because you shouldn't have a problem making a good solder connection, but the cautions on heat, glass used and (if you follow clear to the bottom) how home made panels will void the warranty on your controller are things to think about.

I can make pretty decent money right now.. won't last for long, but I would really rather buy something as my time is pretty well spoken for, I have to be available for service calls. Just as soon buy them from someone that does it all the time, I bet there are people that do that somewhere, just need to find out who.
Thanks Tom and Dick.

Jim,

I saw a video yesterday was talking about HighFlex Solar, a small company that would do custom sizes.

Video I was watching is:

Thanks! I just wrote to a company that custom makes [anels. I'll contact Solar World to ask them.
I will check your links out.
I am interested in a rigid panel to match mine and also mount above a roof vent.

A couple of folks have cut down the roof vent to enable standard installation. Basically they then use the panel as the cover for the vent.

Dick, I got that deal covered.. he he, so to speak, the new one needs to be shorter, could be wider so it won't interfere with the antenna in one location, the other location I am considering it needs to have specific dimensions. I need a high voltage panel, so the smaller lower voltage panels won't work.

Ozz, I totally understand about the time/money. If I was rich like you I would buy one also. And the warnings about possible problems would probably dissuade me also. Good luck.
