Heat not working

I have a 2021 3021RL. The heat pump doesn't appear to be working. I can put the AC unit in heat/cool mode but it won't heat no matter how high the call temp is. In gas mode, the furnace turns on for a couple of minutes and then turns off. Any body have any ideas?

There is a furnace troubleshooting manual in the files section.
If your furnace blower kicks on for a bit then quits, it could be a sail switch. Especially if you do not hear the igniter clicking outside at the furnace panel.

My 2019 3811 thermostat needed to sync with control board. I seen this on YouTube and it works for me. On thermostat push mode button and up button at same time HOLD them until you see 2 bars - - on thermostat then release. Then press mode button to display normal settings This will sync thermostat with control board.

Larry,

Only one of your a/c units includes a heat pump - make sure you are trying the right unit.

My 2021 3855BR Legacy does the same thing. No matter what I do on the rear unit, it always defaults to gas mode. Very frustrating when I would like just to use electricity instead of my propane. If anyone knows of a fix, I would appreciate it.

On my 2020 3813 command pad I just set rear unit to heat electric and on it comes. If I dont select electric the furnace will come on.

Had the same issue with my 3120. It is a board that is bad in the unit. Mine did not work at PDI when I picked it up. Dealer had to order part, and I took it back for them to fix it. It now works.

I am having the same problems but haven't had time to look into it. I have a 2021 Legacy 3791RD with the Super Solar Flex option. I'm thinking I may have the same issues here:

https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=84020

But I'm not sure if it is really tied to the load shed with the solar. I wonder if to crank these out faster if they might have used the cool only controllers everywhere. Given most owners put the trailer away in the winter, it might not be noticed enough.

Had the same problem. Our dealer told us to replace the 15 amp self-resetting circuit breaker (it's dark grey in the fuse panel) with a 20 amp fuse. No more problems. Furnace works great.

Larry, did you get it working? One thing about the heat pump. If there is more than 3 degrees difference between inside temp and the set point, it will run gas until it is within the 3 degree setting. I believe the reason for that is as the temp gets colder, the heat pump becomes less efficient and will eventually stop heating. This is just a safety in case you have the heat pump running, you’re away and the temp drops. Your unit will still stay warm.

This fixed the problem with mine also. Just swapped out the grey 15 amp resetting fuse with a yellow 20 amp fuse and good to go now.

I have a 2019 3120RL, the rear thermostat has separate modes for heat pump and furnace. The furnace will only work if the furnace mode is selected. So mine does not switch. If the temp drops too low (like overnight) while set to heat pump mode, it will blow cold air.

I am curious now, since you have separate modes, do you have In-Command? Trying to understand if the gas/electric is an In-Command feature or a change they made in the last few years. The way it works on our 2021 Legacy with In-Command is you select heat, then select electric or gas. If you select electric, if there is more than three degrees between set and actual, the gas furnace comes on until it is within three degrees. Then it switches back to electric. This works nice when it is borderline for the heat pump. So, is this a change by year of manufacture or is it relative to the In-Command?

Best thing I did was throw all those crap thermostats away and replaced them with Micro Air units. No more issues and I love being able to turn the heat or ac on from my phone and have everything nice and cozy before we get back!!

Bob, ours (through In-Command) allows us to do that already. This is the most consistent temp of all of our Montana’s. I agree, it is nice to have control/monitoring of the RV from the phone, including lighting. Adding some WiFi plugs, a Blink camera and an Alexa adds to our livability.

My 2019 3120RL is the "20th Anniversary" edition. It was assembled in October 2018. We purchased it in January 2019. Montana did not offer the incommand system at that time., though some other Keystone brands did.

At the dealer walk through, I was told the HP would automatically switch to the Furnace when it got too cold. It does not.

Where to get a sail switch for the furnace

Hello all,

I had a similar issue with my furnace and was able to determine the problem is the sail switch. I found one on Amazon: Dometic 33082 Svc Df Sail Sw W/Brkt M/L Kit, for $30. Is this a reasonable price or have others found a better price through a local or online seller?

Thanks!
Michael
