Thanks,
looking forward to conversations here.
Where all do you like to travel? We just returned from glacier friday
How has your 2018 model been? We heard bad reviews on newer model montanas, wanted to see if the 18s were as good as the earlier ones

I am still working full time with plans to retire in 20 months, so our travel has been vacations and short trips. Some of the young bucks at work know EVERYTHING and don’t want to listen to me - so I may have to cut my 20 months down to 5 months. It’s not fun anymore.

We bought our 2018 from Holiday World in Alvarado. I don’t know if they are a good dealer or not because I have not needed their services. No warranty issues. Our unit has been great. I have dealt with little issues myself. Crown mold on one side fell down. I put it back up with finish screws + clear silicone and reinforced the other crown mold with screws. Done. Rigged up a pigtail for the Dish Tailgater due to OEM splitters. Done. Had to fix some J-panel molding on the road once. Keep the Schwintek bedroom slide lubricated and it runs smooth and quiet. There is a sound I don’t like on the dining slide that I need to address. I need to loosen the attachments on that slide and bump it about 3/8” toward the back. I am hard pressed to recall some of the things I have fixed or adjusted because they are insignificant…small potatoes. I have been able to learn how to handle the big stuff (when it happens and my day WILL come) by reading this forum. Bearings, leaf springs and axle issues are scarry and a dark hole of no experience for me…but I will figure it out thanks to the info here.

The best thing about my Montana is the resources and knowledge available from this forum. It’s almost as good as having a good neighbor that can do or fix everything…and I have one of those too!

Welcome to the forums and glad you decided to jump in.

I'm currently doing a camp hose gig at a North Carolina state park for the months of July and August. We are not "full timers". We still cling to the house, but we use the camper "full time" even when home. We're on the road, traveling, camping, or doing something much more than we are ever "home." Having a stick-n-brick to return to ever now and then has its advantages, especially since we have someone guarding the property while we're away. This frees us up to travel all we want, and the security to return to a home base when the need arises (like doctor visits, pet vet visits, banking needs and someone going through our mail). It works for us. This is a great lifestyle.

Again, welcome to the forums and please share your experiences. We all learn from each other.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your retirement! We are also retired and our Montana is primarily our winter residence. We travel with it to Florida in the fall, spend 5 months in 4 different parks and then home by May. We don’t use it too much in the summer because we are also boaters and spend time aboard but we did just return from a nice 5 day camping trip to Northern NY. Gotta keep Monty exercised a little in the summer!
