The likelyhood of having the hitch come loose and actually needing the chains is extremely remote given the very positive locking of the Andersen pin under the ball when connected. I still connect my chains but it's not a big deal to do so.

So do the heavy duty recoil cables have the needed weight rating? I just bought our first 5th wheel and am new at this. Would you happen to have a picture of how you hook the cable to the trailer? This sounds like a much cleaner look than chains.
