1st Montana

Greetings fellow Montana owners. Picking up our first Keystone Montana 5th wheel this coming Tuesday--we are trading out of our GD Solitude 377MBS. We are excited to experience the new brand and front-living room layout.

Congrats and welcome! We traded out of a Solitude as well and are very happy with our decision.

Welcome to the MOC. We had looked at the GD Front Living , just to confirm for us that we liked our Montana better. We also checked out several others too for that matter.
Congratulations and Happy Trails.

Welcome aboard Matt! You have found the best ever place to find out about your NEW Montana. Got questions?-- ask away and you'll get answers from the experts-- actual Montana owners. Also since you are picking your unit up the coming Tuesday my suggestion would be to print out at least one of the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) here on the Forum and read over all of them here and take one or two of them with you for your predelivery inspection. Don't let the salesman, manager or tech that gives you the inspection hurry you through this because it is an important part of accepting the unit. DO NOT SIGN for the unit before you do the inspection. DO NOT accept the unit without everything you find wrong when you do the inspection until everything is corrected to you satisfaction. IF you do not understand something they tell you, stop them from going on and make sure you understand everything they tell you. If possible, film or take a video of the PDI so you have something to refer back to if something down the line comes up and you don't remember that they told you. Good luck and enjoy that new unit and hope to meet you sometime down the road.
To find the PDI lists just go to the top of the page and go to the Search Engine and type in PDI or Predelivery Inspection.

Ugh! This thing fish tails something horrible on freeway at 60mph. Passing trucks send this all over the road. Dealer can’t solve the problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like you might be light on pin weight. Recommend you weigh the rig. Double check all your tire pressures on trailer and truck. Did your previous trailer pull with the same truck and hitch without issue?

That is one of my theories.

We pulled a 40’ Solitude prior to this. It tracked like a. Arrow.

I had a 2500 swb & a 36'. i noticed tail was always moving, even with 3100 on pin. got a lwb 3500 drw and a 41' - tows like an arrow flies. 2500 was 800lbs over axle weight ... truck also 2500 had Auto Air level - food for thought

Please expand on that. I have airbags in a F350 2018. Dry weight on the MHC is 300 lbs less than the Somitude we just sold and it trackers perfect.

I've heard nose high puts more weight on rear 5er axle. I don't have a lot of knowledge/experience, maybe others with tons more experience can provide input/thoughts. I think nose high also lightens pin (comment made by someone else)

Going over a CAT Scale would help ... also might try loading more in nose as an experiment.

Sounds like anything is worth a shot - hopefully I answered your question.

There's a good pre-delivery inspection sheet in this forum.
