3900 FB Washer and Dryer

My wife and I are about ready to commit to moving up to a 2013 Montana 3900FB from a truck camper. Even though Montana Customer Service never called us back (!), we find out the hamper/cabinet in the Master Bath can only handle a combo washer/dryer. We wanted a stackable. I guess because of the curved nose, it won't. Our sales guy called back to say that perhaps a stackable would fit but the sliding closet doors cannot be closed because the stackable will protrude into the bath area by 4".
Any comments? I just joined.

First, welcome to the Forum, you will find the Forum here will be better than the customer service
I have stackable Maytag's and we love them, but many swear by the combo, so that will work for you.
If you are set on the stackables, you might have to look at another unit.
Good luck, and let us know what you guys decide.

We had the combo unit and it worked fine. If you wash a lot of clothes it might get rough but for 2 people we found it OK. We are getting a new washer dryer for our new 3400rl and although we can install the stackable units we may go with the combo. Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll have many more opinions to help in your decision.

We put a combo unit into our Monty and it worked fine for two of us. So when we changed to an SOB we ordered another Combo unit for it. Just have to do small loads and remove promptly when done.

Life in a RV is a bunch of compromises, between the lady and her dude, the lady and how she likes to do things, the dude and how he likes to do things. 4 wheel or not. Combo washer/dryer or not. How much room do you need for other gear vs stackables. Is the lady a fanatic about keeping things clean or laid back, saying, oh, we have enough clean clothes for today, what to worry??

If the lady MUST have stackables, then you need to find a unit that allows for them, if not, then - - -

End result must be tho, compromises that work for both and oh, make sure the lady is happy!

The RV dealer said that his tech claims he could install a stackable in the 3900FB BUT it would have to protrude past the sliding doors and toward the bathroom by 4". However, the doors would not be able to close all the way - exposing the front of the stackables. My question now is: Does the 3900FB have a dryer vent or are they only considering a ventless model? Stay tuned.

Instead of stacking them can they be installed side by side in the front closet. Just a thought.

That more or less kinda sounds like it's gonna be up to you, if you can live with the stackables exposed and not able to close that door. If their tech says it will work then evidently it won't be in the way of slides, other doors or walk ways. We were in an RV that had the apt. style stackable washer and dryer and they stuck out 3-4 inches and they had taken the door off. Didn't look too bad I guess but that is a personal taste. But if you take the doors off and it is in a bathroom, how bad can it look.

Now the dealer said his best tech has been doing this for 20 years and is certain it will work as he said. If he can pull this off, we'll be a happy camper. Love the 3900FB floor plan. It's like it was made for us!

I have been really intrigued by the 3900 floor plan also and have wondered if anyone in the MOC have stepped up and purchased one yet?

The 3900 FB is a great layout. We just came back from the Fort Myers rv show and every time Pat was missing I knew where to look, in the 3900!!

Give the Keystone Alpine 3720FB a look. Same basic design but it is design for a stackable unit in the Main Bathroom.

Alright, we bought the 3900FB with the stackable in the master bath today. The dealer says the certified master tech will put it all together. We can't wait!

I'll bet you'll be much happier with the stackable units. We bought the combo last year, and are not real pleased with it. Like mentioned, you have to wash VERY SMALL loads, and it takes forever. I won't buy another one.

astrungis: Congrats on your new purchase. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it once it arrives and you get to live in it for a while.

Well Bretz RV in Missoula, MT did a great job with the install. At first most said it could only accommodate a combo but here is a side by side and the doors to the closet close! Very satisfied.

The link just takes you to the G-mail log in page.
We had looked at the same rig and had decided that if we got it we would put them in the small bath after removing the toilet and vanity. Another option would be great.
