AC problem
I noticed my main ac unit would freeze up if I ran it where the fan would cut on and off when the comperssor shuts on and off. If I switch it to fan blowing all the time even when the compressor cuts on and off it was just fine. I talk to a heat and air guy thats a friend of mine and he said the rv units are bad about doing that. Any one else had this problem.
Thanks

When it is humid it is a common occurrence. Just run your
Fan and all will be well.

You need to make sure the the filter on your return air is clean. The more air flow thru the unit the less likely it will be to freeze up.

Richard Dick is right make sure the filter is clean but it sounds like the freeze stat is bad. I had a sob that never worked from the time it was new. At myrtle beach I could not leave it running during the day you would have to set it at 85 to keep it from freezing up so I put a new F-S on it and never had a problem after that. It cuts the compressor off when it senses ice but lets the fan keep running to melt the ice then cuts it back on. JMHO
Bobby
(on edit) BTW the only time the montana has ever iced up was in 06 when I changed to the CCC and broke the Freeze stat and had to replace it.

If it gets hot I move, so I never have an AC problem.

I didn't see this on any of the other posts so here is my two cents! If you are running your AC always run the setting on the thermostat on High! If you run it on Low and the humidity is high your AC doesn't move enough air and the coils will freeze/ice up! As the others have said, make sure your filter on the intake of the AC is clean also.

Yes, I keep the filter clean where air circulates through it. I will check out this freeze stat with my ac buddy. I have no idea what it is or where it is on the unit.

Yes, this happened to me a lot on a prior SOB trailer. Now I do what's recommended - keep the fan going. We've never had this problem on the Monty ever no matter what the temp. Admittedly, I have not been in what would be called high humidity (just California, Arizona, & Nevada), but I wouldn't expect problems anywhere else with the recommended procedures.

Okay, while I am not an A/C guy, I have a bit of information that I can contribute. We have only had one A/C exhibit symptoms you have described and the solution was to move the sensor/probe that detects freezing in the fins to a lower position - a 30 second job! If you remove the A/C grate and filter, you may see a probe stuck in the fins of the air conditioner. Perhaps moving this probe lower may solve your problems.

Ozz is the (retired) subject matter expert on this stuff. Maybe he will chime in to help.
