2012 DC trip

We just returned from a 28 day trip to the DC area. We have to thank God that we had no problems.
This was our first trip of this length. I was amazed at all the things we saw and places we visited.
I think that to do state justice and visit all that state has to offer you would need at least three weeks.
We did meet some Montana owners who knew nothing about the MOC. I shure hope they take a look at all that is offered here.
God bless you all.

We're headed that way soon, but only spending 4 days. We'll be at the Cherry Hill Park in MD. Did you stay there?

DC is close enough to our home for a day trip so most of the schools schedule class trips to DC. I chaperoned many of them when my children were in school. Was always amazed at the quantity and diversity of the sites. Another place we would go to a lot was Philadelphia. Lots of neat things to see there also.

You need 3 weeks in DC alone and you still won't see everything...

We stayed at Ft. Meade and rode the trains. The only way to travel in the area.

We also stayed at Cherryhill Park. Very nice and we took bus from the park into D.C. Plan on doing it againin a year or two. We did it in 2010 with the new trailer. Stayed 4 or 5 days and were on the run every day. Definately need more time.

We have one or both of our sins living in the DC area for over 10 years, and we visit them often. I can tell you that we will never run out of new things to see and do there! However, we will NEVER live there!!!! Too cold!!

Cwalker,

We stayed at the Cherry Hill Park CG and it was very nice. Very convenient to the Metro which takes you right into the heart of the capital.

As Steelpony said you need a lot more than 3 weeks to see it all with out being rushed.

Good Luck in your travels!

Les and Sue

We will also be in the Washington DC area in early October, as part of an 8 month RV trip, we only have 3 days, just a chance to look around, we will have to be back. We are also staying at Cherry Hill Park, looks like a very nice park.

The DC area is fascinating to visit, but be careful of the areas where they have speed cameras. We were driving in the city limits last fall and about 6 weeks later we got a request from the DC Police to donate $169 to the city coffers because we were doing 56 in a 45 zone. Everybody was doing 56 or more, so I'm not sure how much money they made that afternoon, but next time I will watch my speed.
We live in the Chicago area and anyone doing the posted 55mph on the 294 bypass better make sure their funeral insurance and wills are up to date. I've done 80 in that 55 mph zone and been passed by multiple vehicles.I guess DC has more law abiding citizens than Illinois does. Tongue in cheek.

My daughter lives in DC and they do use cameras. The Beltway is ok, but going to the Hill is different. DO NOT SPEED OR TRY TO RUN A YELLOW LIGHT. Even if you speed up to make a yellow you will get your picture taken for $150 +. Also, no cell phone use of any kind while driving.
