Winegard Wingman

CW has on sale a Winegard Wingman that attaches to the Sensar batwing antenna to improve digital reception for $26.99. Have any of you made this purchase and does it help that much that it is worth the money?

tried to put one on mine, and it would not retract fully due to the second air unit up front. Wanted it real bad, but returned it.

We installed one at Quartzsite and has worked well throughout our travels, especially those digital channels.

We installed the Wingman about a year ago. I think it helps in the fringe areas.

Put one on last week. Our signal is pretty strong at the home base where it currently is so it didnt seem to make much difference.

Like devildog, it hit the front AC unit and would not retract fully. I would like to get a workaround for the problem.

Well it appears there is some positive to the addition of the add-on, fortunately the second a/c is not an issue on my unit. Previously there have been some spots that if the antenna was not dead center on the beam you lost the channel.

We also put one on while in Quartzsite this year and it seemed to help there, especially with the digital channels.

I worked well with mine. Double the number of channels I could get.

How much clearance is needed between the existing mast and the A/C shroud to allow it to lay down flat?? I have 12+ inches - is that enough?

VanMan,
Here is a quote directly from the Winegard web page "The Winegard Wingman add-on to the Sensar antenna requires a minimum of 10 inches of space between the Sensar antenna head and any obstruction or the edge of the RV". Also, here is a link to the page so you can check out all of the specs of the Wingman: Winegard.
