I wouldn’t deviate and make any changes from the original set up as to how they are mounted. IMHO, there is probably a regulation or a certain way in which they should be properly mounted. If they are not fitting properly I would have it checked out by a professional. I would imagine that since we’re talking about propane it would probably fall within DOT regulations somewhat. Therefore, being a safety feature it’s something to be very careful with.

If I were having that problem I would consider adding eye bolts and using a rachet strap. Good luck with it and let us know what end up with.

I'm not having any major problems with the hook up, it is just a pain working the clamps every time I have to get the bottle in and out. My bottles have stayed secure in there with no problems. I do like the idea of the eye bolt and heavy duty bungie strap - will have to think about that one. Until then, I guess I'll just leave alone for now. Thanks for all the input.

I am in a situation where I don't really need to operate that strap very often. When we travel in the summer, we generally start with full tanks and usually don't have to fill until we get back home. Of course we have them strapped during this period. When we get to FL for the winter, the straps come off and I stuff them off to the side until spring as the Montana doesn't move.

I probably have to CAREFULLY undo and re-do those clamps 3-4 times a year - max.
