Two Central Florida Surprises

If your a flea market person you'll want to take in the Webster, FL flea market billed as Florida's largest (and they have some big ones). I took in about 1/3 of the booths last Monday and, according to my phone, walked a little over 3 miles. Will get to more another week. Here's some info: http://websterwestsidefleamarket.com/

If your a history buff, did you know that Custer wasn't the only officer to lead his men into a trap that killed most of the company? The Dade Battlefield state park is the site of the ambush that started the Seminole wars and the visitors center is a wealth of information on those conflicts and how they planted a few seeds for the Civil War. Here's their website: https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Dade-Battlefield

If your an Escapee member, Sumter Oaks campground is central to these attractions.

Another great place to visit is the Florida National Cemetery, it is absolutely beautiful. I have been there a number of times on missions for veterans as I ride with the Patriot Guard Riders. I am not in Bushnell now, we moved to Sebring for the warmer weather so I do missions at the Sarasota National Cemetery.

You're right, I should have mentioned that also.

Being an almost life long Floridian, and the son of a native, I have a relative that was killed in the Dade Massacre. John Yule Barnes is buried in a mass grave with the rest of his compatriots in the national cemetery in St Augustine. Marked with a large pyramid shaped headstone.

Also, the restaurant at the flea market is open all week and the breakfast buffet is to die for (and of course it might kill you) if you like down home cooking.
