Converter Box
Having trouble with lights dimming on battery. Have replaced battery with marine battery and it is not the converter box although it will not keep a charge. Any ideas???

Base on your statement I would have said the converter is not recharging the battery. You say it is not the converter so I don't know.

As a short term solution, hook up a battery charger to the battery and the 12 volt side should come back to normal. If that happens, then it is most likely the converter.

I'd suspect the converter box before the battery, unless the battery is drawing a LOT of current, or you've got significant dc loads (much less likely), or the battery clamps or connections aren't tight.
How did you check the converter? Are you plugged into shore power when the lights dim?
Have you checked the clamps on the battery to make sure they're tight? If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage across the battery terminals, and then across the clamps. If they aren't the same, tighten the clamps.
Check the ground from the battery to the frame, too. I found that loose when I first got the Montana.

cem,
Try this link:
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=31685 I was having a similar problem with our last rig and got some good guidance from members on this forum. It's a little bit of reading but good information and solution.

You should refrain from posting the same problem in multiple areas, as it makes it difficult to know or remember who posted what.

Cem, I had a similar problem on my Mountaineer while still under warranty and took it back to the dealer. They found the converter behind the breaker box and one of the two shovel still automotive fuses was inserted incorrectly. One side of the fuse was in the correct place and the other was above, so my charging was intermittent. They removed the fuse, put a new one in correctly, and I've had no further problems in over 2 years.
