Surge

We are living in out 2015 Montana, while building a house. We are plugged in lately we have noticed that when we have the heater going or when we run the 12 volt lights that we get a lot of surges. And we can her what I think is inverter fan. I don’t remember it doing this before.
Any ideas on why it started ??? It does not surge when we are running -10 lights only

Thanks

You mean the converter. It has a fan that can run when heat builds up in the converter depending upon how much it is charging your batteries due to how much 12vdc load you have. The "heater" you refer to is the fireplace I assume, but that runs off 120vac. Are you trying to run off of a 30 amp pedistal instead of 50 amp service (actually 100 amp). Could it be the campground just has crappy power?

Besides checking that your batteries are healthy, you should turn everything off, by disconnecting your shore cable, so you have no AC power coming into the rig. Then, at the electric panel, which has 120 volts AC in addition to 12 volts DC, tighten every screw that makes a wire connection on both the AC and DC sides of the panel. You should also check and tighten all the connections you can get to where the batteries are located. You will be surprised how many loose connections you will find, and hopefully this will solve your problems. You really don't need to disconnect from your batteries, but if you have a battery disconnect switch, you can turn that to remove 12 volts DC from your panel. At the battery location, be very careful when using a small wrench, that you may want to wrap with electrical tape so you don't accidentally short out to the frame while tightening connections.
