Anyone that has the furrion router -- have you been able to connect to cg 5ghz wifi?

I bought the access router from furrion $239, its gone up now. I can connect to 2.4ghz wifi from the cg, but not the 5ghz wifi. A furrion rep said i could but no settings seem to work for that. I see the on/off switches on the dashboard that is supposed to change the wifi that you can connect to, but that seems to just turn on and off the wifi you are broadcasting.

Has anyone been able to connect to 5ghz wifi? And if so how?

I have yet to find a Router or WiFi Repeater that will work on the 5 GHz band.

The King WiFi Max router / range extender handles both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. We connected it to our home Nighthawk X4S router and it works great.

Furrion router

My Furrion router will not connect to a 5 GHZ site. I figure being a few years old maybe a firmware upgrade is in order. It says choose a file which must be a .img type file. Don't have that type of file. Tried auto upgrade & it tries but fails everything. Anyone else experiencing this?

I stopped using mine, just a waste of money. It will repeat a 2.4ghz band into a 5ghz and 2.4ghz wifi you can connect to.

I currently use a tmobile mifi 5G cellular 100gb hot spot. That works great but needs rebooting and occasional resetting to factory settings. I have clocked it at 75Gbs on a midday sunday. It stops data at the 100gb mark, so it is not unlimited. I also have my phone hotspot as a backup to the mifi that is 4g unlimited with decreased speed at peek times. I have used the max a number of times, once using the 100gb and using 150gb of my phone data. No complaints from tmobile. The mifi broadcasts 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi.

I did take the furrion router apart and found a mini sim on the underside of the board, it looked removeable, but i did not try. I presume that you could replace that with any sim card to use that service. It will void warranty i imagine. The screws are glued in so you would have to re-glue them if you wanted warranty service.

You should be able to replace the installed SIM with another service provider. If you do, most likely, you will need to access the router’s administrative dashboard and change the APN settings.

Does anyone use the Furion router ? Being prewired furion seeMs easiest. We boondock a lot and have nothing for Wi-Fi yet so we are looking for what will work best for remote boondocking. Before paying for something that may or may not work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Rod,

It depends on your needs. We have done very well just using our phone as a hot spot.
