Lippert Flip-Up Steps Rattle During Travel

I must have the first generation of fold-up steps that are not lockable. During travel, the steps are free floating and sometimes bump open the entry door. I notice the second generation steps are lockable. Does anyone have a hack or know where I can get the locks? Thanks in advance.

Don't understand, even the first generation MORryde Step Above latch into place for travel.

I haven't seen any fold up steps with out some kind of lock the lock is for safety so they don't fall out and hit you when you open the door! do you have any pic's

Follow-Up

I called the company - MorRyde. They said that there is no 1st or 2nd generation but 2 versions: gas stuts and no gas struts. The version with no gas struts has latches because nothing will hold it in place. However, the gas strut version (like I have) uses the strut power to lock it into place - no latch!

If its popping your door open going down the road - lock the door.

The Mor-Ryde step on our 2019 Montana does not have the locking mechanism either. If you have the gas struts like we do, make sure that step folds in tightly against the door frame. On our first trip out as we got ready to leave a campground I pushed in the steps, pushed the door shut, only to find the door wouldn't even close. I found that the step did not fit tightly against the door frame. When I closed the door the screen door edge on the hinge side was hitting the metal stop plate on the step that's supposed to fit tightly against the door frame. That one attempt to close the door bent the screen door hinge, throwing it completely out of alignment. Fortunately Keystone covered the repair under warranty. New screen door and step, but of course the new step had to be the same as the old according to Keystone, so we didn't get the locking one. Just a word of caution.

Ours doesn't lock either. I have had it bump open the door once..when the door was locked. However, when we looked at it closely we figured out that the rug on the floor had shifted just a little and was keeping the steps from fully going back. It wasn't much...just was catching the corner of rug and it was enough to push against the door. Although I had "locked" the door with the key, it apparently was pushed out just enough that it really didn't catch correctly. I now make sure that the rug is out of the way, steps are fully back and door is catching when I turn the key lock.
