30 amp and 20 amp combiner

I have seen in catalogs an item that you can use to combine a 30 amp outlet and a 20 amp outlet to make a 50 amp outlet. It is basically a 50amp plug on one side with two pig tails off of it with 20amp and 30amp plugs. Does anyone know how this works? Does it still give you 120 volts or do you get 240 volts? Can you use these on a generator? My generator is 6000 watts but my biggest breaker is only 30 amps. I was thinking of getting one of these combiners to better utilize my generator.

Any info on this product would be appreciated.

Thanks
