The Water Closet ?
I will show my ignorance here but,
I think I just learned that the "Rest Room/Toilet Area" is called the "Water Closet".
Is this a true statment? 
Let me keep on finding threads to read so I can ed-you-ma-cate my self.

Alrighty then,
Since I dont have my trailer yet I wasnt sure if the comments about the Water Closet meant an actual closet for the Water Heater or for other water components. They were talking about the "John"

I think if you refer to your privey as a "water closet", then your have to call your couch a "davenport" and your storage are the "cellar"

I think it came from the org. tank type toilet ,,, the tank stores water for each flush ???

Welcome jerrybb to the MOC. You picked one heck of a crappy subject for your first post.
OK Let's go back in time to the early 60s and the Tonight Show with Jack Parr. Does anyone remember the two words that were bleaped that caused Jack to walk off the show?? For those that remember "Water Closet" you may go to the head of the class.
Water closet is a British euphemism for a bathroom.

Water closet is also a term used in construction. Guess it just sounds better than all of the other terms. Technically ours can't be called the bathroom because we don't bath in there (at least I don't).LOL
I'm surprised all you military guys aren't giving us the military terms!

LOL! I was just talking about that very segment from the movie this afternoon. "The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ is full" Are you sure your not here??? I have always called it a water closet, sure dont want to upset anyone.

Head is the term for a rest room in the Navy

I also have to agree wit this statement from Jerrybb.
I would always refer to the tank as the water closet and so do most of my friends in the building trades.

I just recently learned the answer to this recently. Sir John Harrington of Kelston, England was the inventor of the flush toilet. He designed one for Queen Elizabeth in the late 1500's. He was godson of the Queen. I found this out in tracing my family geneology. My great grandmother was a Harrington, and a friend of mine helped me trace back my ansestors. It looks probable that he was one of my ansestor's, just hard to prove. It was fun to learn this and gave our family a few laughs as well. Hence the "John" and I'm sure since the Queen had one, "The Throne". I guess the invention was not well accepted by the English people. It was many many years and a few inventions later before it became accepted. I believe someone named Crapper takes credit for the modern day version.
No wise remarks, please! lol
