Landing Gear Woes

It appears that whoever adjusted my landing gear so both sides are equal in length when retracted etc. made about a 1.5 inch error. When I retracted this morning using the ODS as my guide I stopped in plenty of time before the leg was completely retracted. Unfortunately the DS was retracted and the small shaft coming out of the gearbox that drives the square cross-shaft to the DS leg simply disintegrated where the bolt connects it to the cross-shaft. Didn't find this out till I tried to extend the legs at the dealer. (They are doing a small window replacement where the seal in the thermo-pane window has failed.) The shaft/gear is a cast that looks like pot metal! If it is steel it was poorly cast or heat treated. It looks like it belongs to a kids toy rather than a heavy trailer. The service manager came out and checked the damage and agreed to get it covered either by them or by Lippert. As soon as it comes back some florescent paint will let me easily check both legs when retracting. They are also checking why my remote control enabling button on the outside slide, legs and stab's control panel is only working intermittently. Warranty was up in May.

Our remote was working only intermittrntly when we were out the second time--turned out to be the battery in the remote. Go figure!

Thanks m8 I am checking that battery as soon as I find my small phillip's head driver.

They fixed my landing gear and now I have the two legs absolutely even lengths. I also got out the paint and now they have a nice international orange ribbon so I can see when to let go the button.
