Water heater

First time i have tried our suburban water heater at high elevation (9000 ft) and it wont light on its own unless i blow or force air into the burn chamber while the igniter is sparking. Could it be the altitude? Not enough oxygen?

The water heater can be adjusted for high altitude gas operation or you can just use electric. I have had similar issues above 8500 feet.

If boondocking, you can run your genny for 20 minutes to heat water and it will stay hot for a long time.

Ok. I’ll look into that but I did notice no way to adjust the air at the propane jet

A RV tech talked to me about adjusting the gas flow not the airflow. I did not change it as I don't camp that high very often and I have had some trips where the heater did continue to work on gas at high altitude. The heater manual talks about the possible need to adjust if over 5000 feet.
