With these taller bed depths. I'm more concerned about the bounce and bed rail contact. I found one on craigslist. I would like to buy, But I only currently have 4inches of bed rail clearance. With a replacement for a rigid lippert 1621 pin box.
What is the longevity of the shock and air bag for a used unit.
Is it something someone replaces every 5 yrs like tires? Is $400 reasonable for a pin box that has edge rust. My pin box has zero.

I realize this is an old thread that I am reserecting. This was the deepest thread I could find doing a search. With these taller bed depths. I'm more concerned about the bounce and bed rail contact. I don’t think you have enough bed clearance. I think in the right place you are set up to tear up your truck. 400 dollars sounds less a fair price. I’ve had my trail air for 10 years and not replaced the air bag.

I have had mine for over 14 years and have not replaced any part. It does slowly leak air, but no more now than from the beginning. I just carry a DC powered air pump and air it up when it needs it.

I met the owner and designer in Goshen, IN when I had it installed. He told me that he would stand behind it and if I ever needed parts he will provide them. Of course, some years later he sold to Lippert. I believe his first name was "Dale"--but I could be wrong. I have actually used mine on two fifth-wheels. I did have to buy a major part of the frame in order to match the new trailer. I just used it on two different trips to Colorado. One in July and the other just weeks ago in early September.

I have a 5th Airborne air ride pin box and still good after over 10 years so I don’t think longevity is too much of an issue on the shocks and air bags.
