I don't think the Snowbirds wil be left out!!!
Check this out:
2:46pm ET - Gulf Coast winter warnings!
The National Weather Service in Mobile, Ala. just issued a statement they don't often have to, namely a winter storm warning all the way to the Gulf Coast, including such typical "cold getaways" as Dauphin Island, Pensacola Beach, and Destin!
According to NWS, snowfall of an inch or less is possible at the coast!
and I know the Texans are not feeling left out either, check this out:
February 11, 2010
3:26pm ET - Latest from North Texas
The weight of today's heavy snow (temperatures near the surface are only in the low 30s) is now downing large tree branches in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex. Fortunately, this snow event is not accompanied by strong winds, or power outages and downed trees would be much more widespread.
The latest total from DFW Airport is 5.7" which, as a point of clarification, makes this the 3rd snowiest calendar day on record (dating back to 1940). Only a 7.5" snowfall on Feb. 17, 1978 and a 7.8" dumping on Jan. 15, 1964 stand in the way of a record.
Sorry Lindy, looks like the shorts will have to stay put away for a few days!!

Yep Bingo, here it comes.
In Gulf Shores, it is still in question if we will get any of that silliness, but, I can tell you that the precip has begun and it has that sharp sound of sleet. I saw itsy bitsy little snow/sleet balls on Big Butts black cover, and I attempted to take photos. Still on camera, not sure they turned out. They were REALLY small!
Stay tuned, ohhhhh, Walleyworld was BUSY!! We happened to go out and decided to grab what we needed, not because of the storm, but cause we were out. One trip and all that stuff. It is Thursday right?? BUSY, like a Friday. HMMM?????

This afternoon's forecast (from Birmingham television) warned of two to four inches of snow being possible in the Mobile-Gulf Shores areas.
Y'all better get to the Pig for milk & bread...

Kansas City is right on the bad-good weather Bell curve, we are usually 100 miles from either a bad ice storm, or heavy snow.
Mind you we are not complaining, it is not bad here in the Winter.
I feel bad for those of you in the thick of it. Spring is March 20, hang in there...

You two are funny!
I have on thermies, jeans, heavy socks, two sweatshirts. To go outside I add earmuffs, another sweatshirt and another jacket that is warmer than a sweatshirt.
Today at Walleyworld, I spotted one young dude with jeans and shortsleeved t shirt. Maybe it was that space age material, keeping him really warm, course, I don't know bout those bare arms, eh???
OKKKK, photo is substandard by anyone's standards, but here it is:

Gosh I LOVE a good story!

If this keeps up the snow-birds will have to join in on the polar bear club.

You disappointed me Carol, I was fully expecting to see a pic of Al in shorts and flip-flops making snow angels, and instead all I got was a couple of miniature, teeny-weeny, barely there, had to get my glasses on to see (no wait, I don't wear glasses), pieces of ice. Oh well, at least you are staying warm!! I will have to check in tomorrow to see how much of the fluffy white stuff you all get.

I thought it was HUGE
Now you know why Texans can't drive on the white stuff......The worst thing in the world is when the weather man says we are going to have ice/snow. Everyone helps the economy by going to get groceries, pipe wrap, beer etc. Has to be a better boost than the stimulus checks.
Sure feel sorry for the people that are trying to deliver the Valentine flowers.......oh gosh maybe the weather is getting some husbands off of the hook.
No sleet or snow in Driftwood, but our little drizzle is coming in really big drops.....guess the weatherman had the same glasses on Carol did.

Bingo I can report at 1500 hrs or 3:00 pm for some there was sleet falling on the 5er. I very seldom wear long legged pants but I have worn them for 15 days since we arrived in the Gulf Shores area (Foley Ala) 10 days is my limit. We will be going West next winter and take our chances. GBY....

This has been the coldest winter in decades according to the Local Florida stations. Did not get to 55 degrees today and was 45 last night. No snow and maybe no freeze but still cold.

Hey Bobby,
I don't get cold very often. I was raised in the mountains of West Virginia, Randolph County to be exact, the area of the state where all of the Ski resorts are. A normal winter there averages 150 to 180 inches of snow. I feel for those who have never experienced it, but at the same time would not wish harm on anyone. I personally like snow and I like Winter, but I also like to pick on a few of our MOCers who are from the colder areas of the country (and went South seeking relief) simply because I have been blessed with a sarcastic streak!! Now if you want to know my real thoughts on the causes of all of this weather irregularity, I can assure you it has nothing to do with "Climate Change" but rather I will leave it that every now and then we all need a reminder of who is really in charge, and it is not anyone in DC!! Spring will be here soon though......I think??

Bill,
I will have to inform my brother in Fort Meyers Beach that he has to where big boy pants the next time he whines. He is pushing 300 lbs so they will be Big Boy Pants.
I am not sure he owns a pair of long pants. Shorts are his motto and he is sticking to it.
