Furnace Problem

Been having some problems on my furnace on a 2014 3582 RL. The performance seems to have decreased. We are in Arizona and we are going through a cold spell. Does not seem like there is much air coming out of the registers. It takes forever for the trailer to warm up and the furnace to shut off. We also have noticed the furnace will get real noisy after running for awhile. Any ideas? I am going to take off the basement walls to see if a hose came off.

That would be the first thing I'd look at. On most rigs the hoses aren't on all that well to start with.

No idea other than checking your duct hoses in the basement. I had your same concerns when our unit was new. Mine didn't and still doesn't seem to move a lot of air but it always warms the rig. Based on the size of registers, duct size, and blower size you are not going to feel air movement like in your S&B. You are also trying to warm a unit that is not very air tight. Been in a lot of rigs in the 14 years we have owned this one. They all seem to act the same. Can't comment on the noise getting worse the longer it runs. Our doesn't do that but it is plenty noise to start with. We have spent many nights in the rig with temps in the teens. As long as we had propane we stayed warm.

Furnace Problem

I tore the basement wall off and you guys were right. The vent was unhooked and lying there. I was able to squeeze in there and rescuer. This time I drilled holes and used small sheet metal screws to resecure. The furnace is much more quiet . Thanks for the replies.

Glad you found and was able to fix your issue with nothing but a little time and a bit of common sense.

Don't know about yours, but when we got our and started using it over the cold months, I was concerned about how little and how slow the inside of the camper warmed up. Then one day I was able to tear into the basement wall and then I realized why. Mine has several open air ducts actually going under the floor to heat that space under the floor. Mine is rated to zero degrees, now I know why.

However, it's a costly feature, because I figure about 1/3 of all my heat goes under the floor. Granted, the floor is warm throughout the camper, but the coach area takes a lot to get it warmed up. When temps got below 20 degrees, we were running through a 30 pound propane tank once ever 2 days. That's when we closed up the camper for the winter (and moved back into the house). It was just a bit too costly.

I winterize my Montana, just like I did my previous travel trailers, and probably will continue to do so. So, to have the heat blowing under the floor serves me no advantage. I'm waiting for Spring to roll around and I'm going to get back under there and close off as many of those lines as I can.

And by the way, when my furnace turns on, it sounds like a jet plane engine firing up! Outside, it's awesome! Inside, we don't notice it so much!
