TPMS Question

We just purchased a new Montana and tires (Sailun S637) are filled with that stuff that is suppose to help incase of sudden pressure loss. I took the old TST 507s off the old unit and put them on the new rig. The guy at the camper sales office told us he didn't think we were suppose to run any sort of TPMS with tires filled with this stuff. Question is that correct and should I take the sensors off the new tires or leave them on?

Gubs what kind of "stuff" is he talking about? If they're nitrogen filled it doesn't matter. Do they have some kind of never leak in them? If so the dealer should be giving you new tires.

The only thing other than “air” that I have heard put into tires is nitrogen. That is done because pressure does not change as much with temperature change. You still need TPMS. If they put something like “slime” in the tires, I can only imagine how much they would need and the weight it would add. Me thinks someone is misrepresenting a product. I would find out what they put in and have it taken out. Just me. Then get a good TPMS like TST.

MUTI SEAL with Kevlar

I just spoke to a rep from Mutli Seal and he reassured me the product was ok with external TPMS TST systems. They have had a problem with built in systems but not with external systems such as my TST 507. I've also written TST to get their advise but haven't heard back from them yet. The rep from MUTLI SEAL called me within minutes of writing them. He said if anyone wanted to speak with him regarding this issue he would be more than happy to discuss. If you want to talk with him I have his phone number and will give it to you upon your request. He was very helpful and stated the company would stand behind their product should anything happen. Once I hear from TST I will also give you their response. Thanks again for everyones advise and interest in this thread!!

Gubs I've used various products that "stop leaks" etc. in motorcycles, tractors, 4x4s etc. with varied results - usually not worth the effort.

If I were you I would call TST vs writing them. I've always had great results via phone. I figure there are lots of things that can/will happen to an RV tire that that stuff won't do a thing for. I would far prefer the multiple benefits of the TST system vs that anti leak mess. And, I figure no matter what the manufacturer of it says it will cause issues with the TST system. I've not used anything capable of stopping a leak that wouldn't also clog up everything else.

My next question would be "what in the world is a dealer doing putting that stuff in brand new Sailun tires on a brand new Montana"? IMO that should be something that the new owner has a say in. I would tell them to remove the tires, put new clean Sailuns on and save those filled with goop for someone that wants them. JMO/YMMV

This is their brochure about their products. I just wonder how much it is going to cost extra when the time comes that the tires must be removed from the wheels, or if the wheel will have to be replaced at the same time? I also wonder what Sailun says about this type of sealant inside their tires and how it affects their warranty?

Gubs, you probably heard back from TST. They said it would not be an issue. Centrifugal force will force it to the outside, away from the valve stem. Enjoy that new Montana.

It may be magic stuff but I've never put anything from all kinds of goops to balancing beads that didn't eventually end up in the valve stem.

What are the odds one or more tires have a leak so that is how the dealer 'fixed' it.

Did anyone else notice that all the examples of use is construction equipment?? Don't see any mention of passenger cars or trucks. I can see an advantage using it in those types of environments, not so sure I would want it in my trailer tires.

I noticed that also and was wondering how highway speeds may effect balance and temperature. Also looks like its purpose is to stop leaks, guessing it won't do much for a blowout and wow what a mess that may leave.
