Soon to be....

Hello all, Karan and I and are soon to be the proud owners of a 3790RD. We will be picking her up this Saturday at a dealer about a hours drive from us. We were interested in toyhaulers for a while but decided our HDT had plenty of room on the deck for an atv or motorcycles plus it has a lot of storage around and under the deck. I'm going to have to get creative for our kayaks or a paddle board. The dealers let us spend over an hour in the unit last week, air conditioning on and doors locked. Just us poking around watching tv, listening to the radio and going through the whole layout to see if it was something we would like. We fell in love with the trailer and all the storage by the time we were done. We are making the jump from a 30ft travel trailer so this thing is huge to us. We are hoping to retire in a few years, just wanted to get setup before we do. I'm looking forward to meeting other Montana owners on this forum.

Welcome to the forum from Washington state. We gave a great deal of thought to going with an HDT but won't unless we move to a much heavier 5er. What is your HDT if you don't mind me asking?

Its a retired 1999 Volvo VNL610. It spent its life as a west coast fleet truck. It has a Cummins N14 Celect Plus motor and a 3 pedal automatic 10 speed transmission. The sleeper has air ride seats, bed, microwave, tv/dvd and a refrigerator. In 2007 it was transformed into the rv hauler it is today. Stripped down interior done and custom bed built and singled axled in the rear. It has an airbag rv fifth wheel hitch mounted behind the rear axle. I like the fact it has has big brakes, sits high and is comfortable to drive.

I had to wipe all of the drool off my keyboard before I could respond. Nice rig. Who did your bed? We were looking at the 780 model due to the ishift. We had just gotten into the process after identifying a potential rig and got a bit nervous.

Is that singled short?

I purchased it just the way it sits. The guy I bought it from (he bought it from the guy that had the conversion done) gave me a notebook with the history of when it was converted to how it sits now. The bed was done at that time. Not sure who the builder of the conversion was. I went with this one because it is pre-def and egr. There is no smog stuff on it at all. So that means no particulate filter to plug up.

I think it is singled to the mid position, could be short. The wheelbase is perfect for what I wanted. I had a 2011 Ram Crew Cab Long Bed, it is just a little bit longer then the Ram was. Those 780's are nice, i looked at them too. I just couldn't pass this one up, it is how I would of done one if I did it from scratch.
