The weight issue

Saw this today. Got a chuckle out of it. Here it is for the Ford-vs-GM-vs-Dodge discussion.

That is funny.
A DRW would be more stable.

it can, but it wouldn't help with something like that.

That short little trailer could be a challenge to back up with a large truck.

The problem is the trailer tongue is to high and the rear to low. From what I can see it appeared that he needs a SOB TV so he can hitch it up and the trailer will be level. As for backing up we don't have to worry because you can just unhook it and push it to where ever you need to. One other good point is you don't have to worry about your garage door being to short to get the trailer inside.

Not picking on brands just picking on the trailer.

Good catch Bill. I am sure that trailer could start whipping from side to side possibly pulling the TV into the ditch.

We are always concentrating on how much our newer 1-ton trucks can drag or haul. I was shopping for a motorcycle trailer last year to pull behind my 2014 Explorer. The bike weighs well over 800 pounds but I just wasn't worried about total because the Explorer is a full size SUV. I found out my 2.0L front wheel drive Explorer is only rated to pull 2,000 pounds maximum! Ended up with an all aluminum trailer that weighs less than 400 pounds to stay well below my max.

I was just shocked at the max tow capacity. Didn't older large SUV's drag around 3,500 or more?

FYI, Consumer Reports still classifies the Explorer as "midsized." The Ford models classified as large are the Expedition and the Flex.

And just think.... a long bed truck would need a smaller trailer.

Hi

I don’t understand this statement. I am pulling the longest trailer Keystone built in 2009 and still under the max length allowed under the highway regulations.

I assumed he meant short bed/long bed if being equal in capacities, the long bed would weigh slightly more, reducing the payload..?

People ask me why I need such a big truck? I tell them , "I farm marshmallows for a living"! ... While they ponder that, I add, "they weigh a lot more until you put air in them"!
