Height of Truck Box

We are in the process of buying a 2011 GMC, 3500HD, duramax crew cab. Looking forward to 397 HP and 765 ft/lbs of torque.
I am a bit concerned about how high the back end of the new trucks are. Our new unit will have the 18" wheels, and measuring the back corner of the box on level ground it is 60" high.
The box on our 2003 GMC 2500 HD duramax is only 56.6" high.
Is there anyone out there who has a new 2011, and how does it mate up with your Monty.
We have a 2955RL Montana, 2007 and it tows nice and level on our current truck, but wondering if we may have a bit of a "bow up attitude" with the new duramax.

The same corner of our TV is about 59" when not hitched to our fifth wheel...not sure the height when hitched, but it does settle a couple of inches when hitched (2800 lbs will do that). We have the Reese 16k hitch installed and have it set in the "middle" position, so if it was necessary to adjust for height, we could do so; however, we have relatively even clearance between the top of our truck's box and the bottom front of the fifth wheel, so no adjustment is needed. Guess the question is: how much would the new truck settle with your fifth wheels pin weight and what room, if any, do you have to adjust your hitch.

My 2009 GMC DUALLY is high enough to, or so as when I back up to 5th wheel I get my wife to raise the nose of our Monte enough to(ground level to 5th nose isn't always the same) get the plastic disk on the bevel edge of hitch to connected nose will pop up a inch or so there by hooking up with out bending landing gear legs then check pin latch and put up legs............

DON'T FORGET TO PUT DOWN TAIL GATE

NOT SURE IF THIS WAS WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR.

If you're getting the 18" wheels I assume you're getting a Single Rear Wheel. I have one on order but a Dual Rear Wheel which only comes with the 17" Wheels I would have liked the nicer 18" wheels, but not an option for a Dually. Right now I have about 8" of clearance between Monte and Box, so I'm hoping the new TV will be close to that. I guess I'll have to wait and see and hope for the best.

Regards and great choice of TV

When we went from the 04 to 09 2500HD, I was concerned about the additional depth of the bed, but we ended up with the same clearance as you, 8". I suppose we had close to 11" on the 04. I just never measured it. IIRC, the new design bed was 2.5" deeper than the old style.

We picked up our new tow vehicle yesterday, wow, what an awesome machine.
We got a 2011 GMC 3500HD, crew cab, short box, single rear wheels, with the new
397 HP, and 765 fl/lbs of torque. This unit is rated to two 17,700 lbs, far more than we
will ever need for our 2955RL Monty. The 1st of Sept our truck is going for rhino box liner, rubber mats on the bottom, new fifth wheel hitch, Roll and Lock box cover, and running boards. We won't know how it will hook up with the Monty until we get hitch
installed. But right from the start I know it is about 2" higher than our 2003 GMC.
Hope the attached picture opens okay.

Wow - GM is finally offering the 3500 in a short box? For years, all you could get was the long box.
