TV Bed Liner

I am in the process of specing out a new TV. We have recently switched from a Travel Trailer to a 5th Wheel. We are now buying a 3500 pick-up. My question is about bed liners; which is better, the drop in plastic bed liner or the spray in bed liner. We will be using our unit for Extended/Full Time camping.

I had a spray in bed liner put in this past spring. They removed my hitch and then replaced it after the liner was sprayed in.

I’ve had both types and the previous liner I had, had to be cut out for the fifth wheel hitch and I didn’t like the holes at all that it left. I was told that you could not mount a hitch over top of that type of bed liner and I wouldn’t want to either. The spray in liner is really nice!

All of my trucks have had the spray in liner and in my opinion are the only way to go.

My 2500 had the drop in. It moves and rubs. With the 3500 I did the same as Bill-N-Donna. Removed the hitch and had the "LINE X" sprayed in. I did have to re-drill the holes. I will go this way again.

All our trucks are sprayed in liners. They are skid resistant which does not alow items to slide around and they are Tough! You can drops things without dents and they won't scratch yet the material always looks great.

I used a local company from the Line-X approved dealer list for my two pickups trucks (the first with no fifth wheel bed rails, the second has fifth bed rails). In both cases the hardware was removed, then sprayed, then the hardware was reinstalled. I did not remove anything that was attached to the bed prior to taking it in (I did hose the bed as best I could the day before and it was nice and dry for them) and they took care of everthing. I dropped it off in the morning, then picked it up late afternoon to allow for the application and curing. IIRC, it took a couple of days for complete curing. They will tell you the recommended duration.

I guess it would be a good idea to check with the installers on what they require. It turns out on the second truck I had this done, the sales guy told me to leave the bed rails on because it was included in the price. When I picked up the truck much later the technician who did the work told me it was supposed to be an extra charge to remove and reinstall the bed rails, but since it was written that way it was free and included. They did a great job and other than some dirt and the like, it's working out great, too. Each product or installation company may vary.

I have seen enough drop in liners on the road (almost ran over one, too) but I haven't seen a spray on liner in the road, yet.

Spray in also. I have had both Rhino lining and currently have the Line-X. Personally, I prefer the Rhino lining --it is a softer (more rubbery) compound and things don't move at all (at least they didn't for me). The material is softer though and the dealer that used to do it locally no longer handles it because of the 'repairs'; it will tear / cut. The Line-X is a much tougher material (less rubbery) and things seem to slip around somewhat. I was told by the truck dealer that the Line-X installers could add a 'sand' to the material to reduce the slippage but when I asked the installer they told me that they didn't do that. Had in the past but not enough demand and clean-up of their equipment was more involved. Hence they stopped. Regardless, the Line-X is tough and have not seen a scratch, cut or whatever to its material.

I had linex installed as part of the truck deal. I had a drop in on another truck and it scratched the box and held moisture between the liner and box which could cause rust.
