Support Our Troops

There is a move afoot for everyone in the country to wear a red shirt on Fridays in support of our troops. The website is: www.redshirtfridays.org

Thank you for joining with me in supporting our troops. Remember, this is not a political thing, or even about the war. It is simply supporting our young men and women who have been placed in harms way. God Bless them all!!!!

If we can wear MOC wear, which I do every chance I get, then surely we can wear red shirts on Fridays for support. You don't have to buy one from this website, just wear something RED.....

Phil

UPDATE: SURELY WE CAN GARNER MORE SUPPORT FOR THIS EFFORT THAN THIS, COME ON FOLKS, TAKE A STAND AND SUPPORT OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN.

Right on Phil. Since last Sunday we have lost seven troopers from nearby Ft. Bragg over there.

My Canadian snowbird friends introduced this idea over a year ago. I have been trying to remember to wear red ever since I heard the idea. Like you say -- it's not about politics, it's about support for our brave young men and women who are sacrificing for all of us.

Wearing red on Friday has been a practice in and around Fayetteville, NC for quite a while. Not by everybody, to say the least, but the war is never far from our hearts and minds since most everyone knows someone who is deployed, has just gotten back or is about to deploy again. Unfortunately, the saying that the troops are fighting for our freedom and security in the sand box while the rest of America goes to the mall could be true in many cases. Not good.

OK, it's Friday again. I just realized that and also realized I have to go change my shirt to red. That's my problem -- remembering Fridays. Ah, the joys of retirement. I do try as I think it is a simple thing to do to show our respect.

I retired from the Air Force after 23 years. I didn't think I had enough, so I went to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers. retired from them after 20 years. I still have a a couple of red COE t-shirts. So, today I wore one of the shirts. Makes me feel good.

Love and War article from today's paper. Reality and heartbreak, but a reminder to all of the sacrifices made.
