PROPANE REGULATER VALVE

The propane regulater valve that automaticly switches between the propane tanks when a tank becomes empty will not do just that. I also cannot manually switch from one tank to another. I am currently switching the actual tanks from one side to another to keep my furnace, stove, etc working.
I can't make out the name on the valve but the model number is CR-9984. The name is Fairwrew or something like that.
Anyone have dealings with this issue before ?? Anyone know the name of the unit ?? Is it fixable ?? Can I by-pass the valve ??
My Monty is a 3455SA 2011 model.

Mine started to act up and I just replaced it for under $40.00,are you opening your tanks slowly

Yes I am. I tried re-connecting the tanks several times.
Where did you purchase the valve & what is the brand name on it ??

Is it a GR 9984, similar to this one? Google search did not show a CR 9984. Looks like they changed the design quite a bit by looking at the two pictures.
Pretty cheap. I think I would just replace it.

Just a thought, before changing the switch over reg, disconnect the pig tail from the reg (you would have to do this to change the reg anyway) and with the pig tail disconnected, turn on the tank valve very slowly and see if you get gas flow. There seems to be lots of problem with those pig tail. I had a hose I used with a portable tank for the grill, had been using it for some time with not problems, then suddenly the grill wouldn't light, turned out the valve in the hose quit. Recently bought a new replacement from CW and it was defective right out of the packageing. I think it's too much lead in the rubber hose from China.

If you open the tank valve quickly after refilling a tank, it will automatically close. The valve will remain closed when the other tank is exhausted so it will not switch over. Manually switch the regulator to the tank that has fuel. Close the valve in that tank then reopen it very slowly. If it resets the regulator should turn green and you are good to go.

There is a check valve in the line from the drivers side main selectable valve to the passenger side line.replace that line with one WITHOUT a check valve, Solved our flow problem. Good luck with yours!
